Fyfe was being directed on where to position himself at stoppages by the likes of Wagner and sometimes he listened.

The scoreboard flattered Essendon there are the end, should have really been four more goals.

Murphy Reid needs to be as involved as possible as often as possible. Just makes class choices.

Jackson destroyed a teenager's confidence.

Setterfield got bashed around so much, poor guy.

Shai was cheeky, but effective so it's ok.

We can't afford to have a teenager in the ruck ever. That poor kid might not even remember the first half where he was doing alright winning some clearances, it's just that Jackson would get out and it would rush to goal for us.

Im keen to see what the rating points for Jackson was that game. Absolutely going to be the highest for a Freo player this year and I wonder if it beats Holmes effort last week

I heard "highest ever for a Fremantle player in ten years"

Peel won't do Fyfe any good. Needs to just stay as a sub.
I don't agree with Fyfe as sub. He looks cooked, and if someone gets an early injury he could be playing a near full game. And I would rather a tactical sub have some burst energy and pace.... and y'know... be able to kick the ball.

I didn't go into this 'fight' with a favourite but on available evidence I really don't understand how anyone could have Erasmus ahead of MJ atm. MJ consistently gets more of the ball and he seems better at roving the ball off the ruckman when he's put in at stoppages (which is supposed to be Erasmus' specialty?).

Yes he has pretty a pretty glaring weakness atm in that he's too slow to dispose of the ball, but that seems like the sort of weakness that can improve with good coaching and more exposure at the higher level.
Per 100% TOG Erasmus had 34.4 disposals tonight to Johnson’s 22.7.

Yeah, I love Fyfe and mentioned in another thread just recently that I would love to see if he can hang on for another year or so (given this block helps him find form and a new groove) - but after tonight I'm not even sure if we risk him in finals.

The old Fyfe would not have just given Bolton that hot handball when he had the kick going Inside 50. He could see he was completely covered and still did it! He's too smart for that lazy rushed decision. His body is clearly shot and it's dragging down his confidence.

We still have (not a lot of) time to see something, but it's not looking good.

I'll take that at face value and still say MJ looks like a more impactful player at AFL level to me.

I haven't written Ras off and I'd select him ahead of Fyfe atm. I'm just not seeing what people see in him over MJ atm.

Well MJ has played 20 more games than him, so I'd say the gifted experience has helped.

Raz had a less effective game, but his past month was good and his decision making wasn't an issue then.

7 clearances, despite playing significantly less time than MJ.......yeah that's actually not bad for a lesser game

Raz needs to keep playing.

Per 100%TOG Erasmus 11.5. Clearances to Johnson 3.8

Yeah I'm happy for him to keep playing, and I'd play him ahead of Fyfe as I said.

But based on what we've seen I'd be surprised if he ends up a better player than MJ. And the coaches see them competing against AFL players every day at training and they seem to favour MJ too.

Not saying they're infallible but MJ seems to have more AFL qualities than Ras to me. I'd be surprised if Ras ends up the better AFL player.

Should have been 10 goals. Going forward we were absolutely putrid. It was so blindingly obvious that we were missing a small pressure forward. The ease with which Essendon marched the ball out was infuriating to watch. Why we aren't playing Dudley I have no idea.

Banners should not play again. Someone tell me what he does that Aish couldn't do instead? His dumb as **** kick across the ground to Worner that was cut off and Essendon scored from should be drop worthy itself.

Fyfe was pretty rusty and his unwillingness to kick the damn thing got us into trouble too many times. If JL wants to play him as the sub then fine. I don't know if he is up to being in the starting lineup anymore.

Bolton had one of those almost games. On another day he kicks 5.

I still fail to see what Freddy brings. With his supposed pace he should be running down opponents yet I wouldn't be surprised if he has ever laid and stuck a tackle.

Sharp. Just why?

There are only so many players a team can carry and tonight we carried too many.

Bank the win but our disposal and decision making will cost us against good teams.
Banners and Sharp need to go. Sharp is too meek in the contest and Banners stuffs up so many kicks. He couldn't even hit Jye in the open who was 25 metres from him.
Johnson needs to give off the first option. Someone needs to have a word to Shai about showboating around. It cost us 2 goals in the end. Someone really needs to tell JL that Fyfe is not 27 anymore. You can't just plonk him in the forward line and expect him to drift across packs taking marks like the good old days.

Something has definitely happened to Fyfe's foot in the last few years. His kicking lacks penetration, and is not accurate.

Aside from all that, it was a good win.

Frederick is so bad and should be dropped every week which is funny because he’s also second in our goal kicking
It’s the experience curse, once you play 50 games around here you are on the chopping block since you no longer have unlimited potential.

Some people wanted Switta dropped after just coming back and then he warms up and was going great just before injury. Fyfe dominates as the sub, has a lesser game tonight playing 3/4 and we should retire a duel Brownlow medalist. Leadership, big bodies and experience matter come finals, which is where we are going thanks to 5 wins in a row.

Be happy people!
