Collingwood last night showed similar signs to us against Essendon, missed targets kicking into forward 50, silly turnovers etc. There are not many games where a dominant side smashes a lowly side playing perfect footy, you tend to play down to the level of the opposition for whatever reason. More than happy to get the win and no injuries.

The reality we have too many players who burn the ball.
This and most of the time we go to slow and majority of entries are just bombs to the top of the square where a pack of 20 players are waiting. We don't take advantage of Jyes strengths at all. I think it's partly system and like you say just not enough guys with the confidence much less the ability to hit him on those leads.

During the Essendon game, our forwards were largely standing still ad the ball carrier had to wait = a compressed forward line. Why can't 2 or 3 of them make a lead which will result in 6 players taken away from the goal square and more opportunity for a meaningful lead being made.

That’s not true though. A lot more leading this game than what I’ve seen in the past. There were multiple times throughout the game where players were leading and the crowd was calling out for has to hit it and we’d take too long and just send it to the square. Can literally hear it in the broadcast

As people have mentioned on here, our forwardline is stagnant at times which is an issue. I don't know what Graham is doing.

To give the forwards an out, I think part of that is the stagnation up the field. By the time the ball comes out of the backline the opposition has usually flooded back and clogged up space. If we had better and faster ball users coming out of the back 50 than Ryan, Cox, Draper, and Moose (also Chapman to a lesser extent) then the forwards being stagnant wouldn't be an issue anywhere near as often.

You forget, until you watch something like this, just how many brilliant defensive efforts there were by Clark, Ryan, Worner, Wagner, and Noddy. Some didn't register a stat but they were absolutely crucial.

Our defence players (besides Worner) are all in their prime. We have got to make the most of it.

Draper is younger, Chappy the same age as Worner, Clark 1 year older. Cox only 26, Wags & Ryan only 29.

We’ve got a good 5 years before we have any issues although might need to replace 1 or 2 over that period.

Yeah but you are forgetting Pearce. He didn't play on the weekend but is the pillar of our defence.

He’s 30 and we are already developing replacements although obviously will be hard to get that quality. He’s unfortunately so injury prone, hopefully that extends his career as well as gives the understudies incentive to hang around waiting for opportunities.

We are missing Haydn Young. His deliveries into the forward line are sublime.
