Cornes has accepted he will have no influence. Already defends negative play:
"If I get five possessions it doesn't really matter, the main focus is to stop him.
Admits he's not up to Pavlich's league, has been losing sleep over it:
"He's beaten me a couple of times, I rate him with the best forwards going around, so I've been preparing for this for a while now.
He thinks Fremantle are tough and hard. It's all relative, so he must think Port are soft as marshmallows:
"I'm sure they'll go on with that, I think they rate themselves as pretty tough and hard," he said.
Admits team isn't as skillful with the footy as Fremantle and threatens to use dirty tactics to get the upperhand:
"They'll be thinking we've got a few guys under 20, if the coaches go that way. I'm sure they'll try to rough them up, but we've got some hard nuts who should be able to get back at them."
Not very confident, uses the word 'if':
"It's a real test to see where we're at, and if we could pull a win off, it would do wonders for the club and the supporters as well," he said.
Has little faith in team mates. Wonderful qualities for an acting captain:
"I went into this year a little worried about where we were at and the squad, because of how young we were."
Prediction: Fremantle by 10 goals.
