Also McVee isn't a lock down defender and why Melbourne played there was beyond bizarre.

Get our best defensive defenders back and we hopefully don't need to see him in many one on one contests.

Thought he used the ball well today and thats what I expect from him. Was just about faultless be foot.

JL has ruled out the Cox/Darcy/Jackson combo (as expected)
Actually think this could get very interesting tbh.

Reckon they'll probably take a slightly underdone Pearce, Ryan and Switta into round one tbh. Worner has done the whole pre season outside of today so should be fine.

Darcy might be one underdone player too many and if M.Cox plays like today it might be hard to get Darcy back in.

Dislikes:
1) Midfielders banging it forward from
Stoppage without looking. Serong probably the worst, but started to chain out of stoppage a lot better as the game progressed.
2) Defenders standing in front of the forwards, they call it something like proactive defending, but it doesn’t work when there is a strong breeze allowing easy scores over the top.
3) Slow transition to the fat side, they need to get faster / cleaner at this play.

Likes:
1) Contested marking. We have so many options, we are starting to command the air.
2) Centre square clearance looked dominant.
4) improved connection with the forwards.

Pleased that M. Cox showed the game hasn't gone past him, but we split the hit-outs 31-29 against a 2-gamer ruckman. Basically a complete wash. What are we even talking about?

You can't win a premiership by settling for a standard of competitiveness against someone who is essential a 2nds player. We need to 1) compete against the top shelf ruckmen 2) punish teams that don't have a top shelf ruckman.

Sean Darcy can do that; Mason Cox has shown nothing in his career to suggest he can.
There's more of an argument that you are more likely to win a premiership with a battler ruckman based on recent trends.

M Cox was very serviceable, light years ahead of Reidy and will allow us to get Darcy cherry ripe before he comes into the team, The only way I see Darcy, Jackson and Cox playing is if one of Voss, Treacy or Amiss is unavailable and Cox is playing as a forward, all 6 of those guys will be too top heavy even with a 5th player on the bench

People asking if McVee is best 23 when in reality Chapman should be the player in question. Massively overrated player on this board

Alright C+ to B- player who offers minimal rebound, makes poor errors, has no awareness around him and constantly gets pinned for holding the ball every week. Hasn't really developed much and should be a better player than what he is by now.

Good one Mike 🤣🤣🤣

Good win.

More importantly, some bloke asked Switta to sign a box of chicken and chips when he was signing autographs. Switta happily obliged.
Elite life IQ displayed from both Switta and that young hero.
I'll be the judge of that, was it a wing or a leg?

I thought that McVee was pretty underwhelming in todays game.
Early I know, but he looked a long way off.
Though not getting a lot of the ball today, I was impressed by the work done by Tobyn Murray.
A couple of delighful deliveries into the forwards.
Erasmus looked totally at ease today. Looked very good.
I have corrected my error, I meant Tobyn Murray our recruit.

Or Jackson roams around forward line with Darcy/Cox taking all the ruck. Different mix but still effective.

So in essence 5 of the following 6 players (Treacy, Amiss, Voss, LJ, Cox, Darcy).

Darcy played just 60mins game time. He can build that next 2-weeks in WAFL. Cox should definitely play vs Geelong. Then it’s a choice and mine would be Darcy.

Next week Peel is another intraclub game. So Ryan and Darcy will be playing again in a Micky Mouse intraclub scratchy. Ryan if meeting all fitness KPI will come in. He is a week ahead of Darcy, so a chance for round 1. Brennan Cox looks doubtful to be honest. Pearce should be ok. I’m ok with Pearce and MacDonald for round 1 and Cox/LJ sharing ruck. Luke Ryan would be handy to chop out alongside MacDonald.

The first proper WAFL pre-season game is 14 March. Vs Perth at Ruston. So Darcy can play that to show he is good for round 2.
