I may be shot down in flames here but I will give it a go.

I really hope that we don't repeat how our friends up the road behaved last time Essendon was in town.

I actually cringed last year when players like Watson were booed, sure what there club did was despicable but I don't think you can place too much blame with the players.

Sure if Goddard or any other bummer starts carrying on like a pork chop or some thug takes out one of our players, though Ryder now wears teal, I will be unleashing both boo barrels. Just like I will be delivering plenty of funny and witty (in my own mind) comments in reference to the drug saga I'm sure.

I just feel there is no need to roundly boo players who don't deserve it. I prefer to save them for people who deserve it like booomer harvey the dobbing dog or when medals are incorrectly awarded.

The other thing is that it seems to fire them up and the last thing we need is to give them any further motivation.

Anyway just my view.

I agree with you, not because I don't want to hurt their feelings, but for the last reason. Harvey played a great game when we booed him all game. No ammunition.

Watson was the player who hurt us most in 2013. He gave Crowley a bit of a touch up in the 3rd quarter. I only watched the first half of Essendon vs saints but Watson was butchering it by foot. And now we have a few of our own rolls royces fit and firing, running the other way.

What hurt us the most in 2013 was Margetts.

Cast your mind back to the 3rd qtr penalty against Barlow 20 metres out from goal when the Essendon player slid into his legs. Under the new rules at the time it was an automatic free to Mick. But, not according to Deano. He said it was essendon's kick because he hit Barlows legs with his shoulder which of course he insisted was high contact. Obviously MickyB queried Margetts of his clear mistake.
How did Margetts respond to this perceived insolence ? Why, 50 metre penalty of course which took the ball to the centre circle from where the Essendon player kicked to their forward flank where the ball was clearly punched by Michael Johnson. Naturally, seeing there was no mark, Nic Suban tackled the Essendon player to the ground to which Deano excitedly blew his whistle shouting that is a 50 metre penalty. No whistle needed to signal a mark according to Deano.
So, the ball is then taken to their goal square for a point blank shot at goal. Yep, two consecutive 50 metre penalties neither of which were legitimate.

What was a certain Fremantle goal to Barlow which would have stopped Essendon's run dead in it's tracks, became an Essendon goal compliments of Dean Margetts.

It was that performance which saw Fremantle write a protest letter to Geischen. It was his inadequate response to which Fremantle protested higher that ultimately saw him sent on immediate leave with dismissal on his return. It also heralded a significant reduction in the number of our games Dean officiated in since; Thankfully.

Fremantle will win this game by 65 points.

I'll in WA for this game, first game I'll see Freo play at Subi since 2011.

Anyone keen to join me for drinks pre game at the Fire n Ice bar?
That's ok, I'll just watch the game at the bar by myself

There will be boos. And I'm kinda glad there will be because it goes to show the AFL & the bombers that what they did is not cool with the rest of the public.

Ha! 65 would be a nice margin. The other thing about that game is we lost McPharlin in the first 5 minutes courtesy of Paddy. Pavlich was also a non contributor as his achilles was a problem. I think it was after that game they decided to send him off for surgery.

A 65 point win probably isn't out of the question.

That's right! I was trying to remember who we spent the whole match booing

I guess you never really know what will happen. A 65 point drubbing isn't out of the question, but neither is a win/dominant win to you guys.

Depends on whether 'St Kilda' Essendon shows up, or '2nd quarter vs Melbourne' Fremantle :)

I think our back line's consistency over the past 2 years means that it won't be.

Possibly. But, then again, our midfield is pretty dominant and by your own admission your forward line is your weakness. Thus it's probably going to be a long night with limited supply for your forwards, and your backs will most likely be under siege.

Whether we come to play and put four quarters together will be the key.

Your backline is decent, I'll give you that.

I think with all that, you'll keep us to 50-60 and we'll keep you to 80 or so.
We won by 53 points last time we played, it's not without precedent
Point, but we literally had 4 players 191cm and above. One of the worst ideas Bomber had last season.

Yeah it's hard looking at past results, it skews things. You guys were missing Chapman, Fletcher, Myers, and Goddard went down early. We were missing Fyfe, Barlow, Walters and Mayne and lost Mundy at half time. Bomber was early into his temporary gig, we were coming off a hangover. The teams are quite different now, which makes things interesting to predict.

Heart says you're in for a drubbing, head thinks it'll be closer ;)

Yep. We'll miss Myers and Chapman in all likelihood and Fletch. As well as no Hocking. Your midfield will probably beat ours. We'll have an actual ruckman too.

You reckon Fletch will miss? And do you think you'll bring in support for Bellchambers?

I'm not sure. I think if Fletch doesn't play we play Carlisle in defence on Taberner and Hooker as a 3rd tall and bring McKernan in. Otherwise the balance isn't right.

I think your problem will be stopping our midfield scoring. However many goals Fyfe, Hill, Mundy, Neale, Barlow and Pearce kick will be close to the margin. One each is a 5-6 goal margin. The opitimists on here might now include Suban in that group!

Just watching the replay now of the 2013 match at subi. Suban was pretty good (I've only just finished the first half). Hopfully that Nick turns up on Saturday.
