I may be shot down in flames here but I will give it a go.

I really hope that we don't repeat how our friends up the road behaved last time Essendon was in town.

I actually cringed last year when players like Watson were booed, sure what there club did was despicable but I don't think you can place too much blame with the players.

Sure if Goddard or any other bummer starts carrying on like a pork chop or some thug takes out one of our players, though Ryder now wears teal, I will be unleashing both boo barrels. Just like I will be delivering plenty of funny and witty (in my own mind) comments in reference to the drug saga I'm sure.

I just feel there is no need to roundly boo players who don't deserve it. I prefer to save them for people who deserve it like booomer harvey the dobbing dog or when medals are incorrectly awarded.

The other thing is that it seems to fire them up and the last thing we need is to give them any further motivation.

Anyway just my view.

You're not alone - I'll give James a bit of stick but I won't be booing the players.

I think with all that, you'll keep us to 50-60 and we'll keep you to 80 or so.

I think this sounds about right, I'd hope we can kick a few more goals but not sure we will.

For what it's worth, the squiggle predicts a scoreline of 93-56 if both sides perform to expectations. Personnel/injuries are not considered.

Yeah it's hard looking at past results, it skews things. You guys were missing Chapman, Fletcher, Myers, and Goddard went down early. We were missing Fyfe, Barlow, Walters and Mayne and lost Mundy at half time. Bomber was early into his temporary gig, we were coming off a hangover. The teams are quite different now, which makes things interesting to predict.

Heart says you're in for a drubbing, head thinks it'll be closer ;)

I am recalling correctly that this was the game when some of our boys got a case of the trots a few days before the match? I think that was the reason why Myers didn't even play.

hi, fremantle have always been one of my favourite teams but unfortunately they do not get much air time in adelaide. i saw that barlows stats were well done in the past two weeks before the melbourne game. has he been played out of position or was he carrying an injury? and do you think he will be back to top form this week after getting good amount of ball last week in the pummelling of melbourne? cheers

If you're asking because his dreamteam scores have dipped, we have a thread for that which is pinned at the top of the freo page.

That squiggle also has predicted that west coast will finish 4th this year...interesting tool though. Kind of a moneyball feel about it.

I know some Bombers posters suggested Fletch wouldn't make the trip over 'because he always gets rested for the fixture'. But the fact is he's come over before.

The only reason why he might be rested is to line him up for his 400th with Dreamtime at the G, because he copped friendly fire and the club treats him extra cautiously, or Essendon choose to write off this game and rest him for 'more winnable games'. I don't see any of those scenarios being strong enough. How has he been managed in the last season (and this)? and do you think he'll play?

He won't play because there is very little chance of him being able to cope with a trip to Perth and consecutive 6 day breaks which means he'll most likely have to miss the Freo or North game. You never know though he could be feeling 100% and be able to play both games.

Carey on afl site said 'if essendon play like they have been free could smash them... like 100 points' or something like that... depends which essendon turn up i suppose. I think we should win by 30+ with relative comfort.

It's his birthday, give him the week off

I agree. Sportsbet have the line at +25.5. I think we'll comfortably beat that...but you never really know what you're gonna get from Essendon.

Lyon was overhead this week saying "Michael, you need to lift a gear. Shoota Welsh's dream team needs this."

Essendon's midfield leaves a lot to be desired. I think he'll chop them up.

How's this, apparently Ross Lyon played against Dustin Fletcher.

Round 2, 1994. Fitzroy def. Essendon by 13 points.
The only current coach who hasn't played with or against Fletch is Mick Malthouse. Possibly Phil Walsh.
