Yep. He certainly put a few doubters to bed with some of the skill and endeavour he showed against EP.

Good luck to him, and may the naysayers choke on their bag.

Not one of the doubters (hadn't seen enough to form an opinion)... so mightn't be qualified to respond, but...

The skill didn't surprise me. The endeavour was pretty impressive though. Even if he'd been a couple of notches below what he showed on Saturday, I'd have thought he showed very positive signs...

But the level of application and aggression he showed was a very pleasant surprise.

This guy just somehow turned it on and kicked everything straight.

Bear mind that he had a shocker the year before, in a losing GF for his mob.

Lets hope that kind of history repeats... so we get to watch Freo in the GF this year, and Balla and Fyfey kick a bag each!

Will be interesting to see the crowd ... last year our games against the unpopular sides were around 32-34k. Even the Eagles only got 37k in Round 1. Even if they say the ticket allocation is exhausted, I'd be surprised if the crowd was much above 35k.

Agree, there's usually at least 5k members that don't rock up. Don't think we'll see more than 36k and that's being optimistic.

So maybe my call back on the first page of Neale getting dropped due to lack of minutes wasn't as stupid as some on here seemed to think it was.

It about the best player to play the role this week. It's only a matter of time until Neale gets selected again though as in normal circumstances he is probably best 22.

Thinking it was due to "lack of minutes" was still a stupid conclusion to draw though. As esti pointed out it's most likely about the difference in roles.

My thinking on this game is since it is so early in the season the boys will need the run to blow out some of the cob webs from the long break between the first 2 games .
My gut feeling is that RTB will give one of the inside mids some bench time mid way through the 3rd quarter .
D Pearce or Barlow for the red vest this time but only if we are up by 40 points and moving away from Gold Coast .

I think it'll be closer than that. We won't have the luxury of this option IMO.

Not that I disagree that Gold Coast will be a greater challenge than in previous years, but they only beat Richmond by three goals at their home ground, and given their record against Richmond and how Richmond played last night, there's nothing that as yet suggests they will be any more formidable than when Fremantle played them last year.

In fact, Freo should be more formidable, as the side has Sandilands, Pavlich and Fyfe all back for this game.

a year is a long time for a young team. while we are a lot stronger with our inclusions from the last time we played, so will they. i will be happy with a close to mid range victory. extremely impressed we can pump them.

Please set it back to preview as it means we'll have two game day threads and confuse everyone.

There are very strange people (like me) who actually revisit the wrist slitting game day threads on occasion, so it's actually a good thing to keep preview threads as preview threads. :) there was already a game day thread started today on game say which Seppo will also lock when the game is done, so we can autopsy the game that was in another thread ;)
