I've praised him a lot in recent weeks but Worner has become one of my favourite players, he puts his body on the line in every contest and his contested marking is genuinely really good for a player who's played as many games as he has.
Agreed. I have put my hand up previously that I didn’t see “it” in him and now I’m hoping he isn’t out too long! 🤦🏻‍♂️

Worner and Wagner are the ones I genuinely believe had a A grade quality games yesterday. Outstanding games

Just watched the Hardwick press conference, he definitely talked us up.
He even rolled out the horses for courses when asked about selecting 2 rucks!

Decent quotes here if you don't want to watch the video.

I watched Hardwick's mid week pre-match interview before selection on Thursday. They were pretty much spot on with their intel that Darcy would play and Jackson would also play a lot of midfield.

Gotta admit, some of my favourite highlights of the year involve Voss. Been watching his 2nd goal celebration on repeat because I'm a freak like that:

I love how him and Jackson celebrate together, for both his 2nd and 3rd goal - Jackson just goes upto him and gives him a bit of aggressive love. How can you not feel pumped and the energy watching that.

Hamstring.

Though I’m almost certain that doyen of AFL special comments experts - Alastair Lunch - told us that it was “Corey Worner” that came off the ground with a hammy issue. 🤔

We really had the D team commentating today all up.

edit - I realise I spelt it Lunch not Lynch but if he can’t get out player names right I’m not worried about his
Nat Edwards, on Fox referred to the Pearce incident but couldn't recall his name, then giggled. Very poor for a so-called journalist

Sharp must be close to being dropped. I know we really don't have another player to play his role, but NOD with a bit of time and match fitness could do something close.

Swapping him with Whan would be a big upgrade next year.

He defensive work will be hard to replace in the short term, but I wonder how we would go rotating 3 or 4 players through the role like NOD, Jackson, Reid, JOM (if he comes into 22) and Banfield (If he holds his spot). I think Reid may struggle defensively but surely the attacking bonus would make it worth it.

Jackson marking down the line against a winger would be a big advantage.

Jeremy Sharp wins a lot of the ball when we kick it wide and then he kicks down the line to a contest.

Currently, the team is kicking into the corridor instead.

You can all picture this. The ball finds it's way to Sharp when it comes out of the defensive goal square during general play. That deep kick, loose ball, our defenders handball two or three times and then one of them hoof it to the non interchange wing side half back flank and Sharp is there by himself to mark or runs onto the ball as it tumbles.

Same thing happens with a switch from the other side of the defensive fifty.

Opposition teams set up across the middle to bottle us in that corner and force a long kick down the line.

So instead they don't look to switch so much and Sharp doesn't run into the defensive wing side, someone like Banfield or Johnson are taking that mark instead, which is borderline helpful because Banfield's left foot is far superior to Sharp's left foot.

Just Sharp has his man covering him square side of the wing up the field from that, he's dragging his space blocking opponent out of the space because Freo will move the ball through Sharp if you leave him open and that's +50m every possession when Treacy/Jackson/Voss/Amiss are ahead of the ball.

I think Treacy had an underrated game, he played incredibly selfless and brought his other forwards into the game all day. It stood out on replay.

He's just 5% off with clunking some of those marks he has otherwise been taking the last 12 months. I still really like how his game is looking despite the lack of goals though, I hope he doesn't feel the need to change anything other than work on bringing those marks down again.
