Can't see them coming back on today. Light's going to get worse not improve. And it seems rain all day tomorrow. Might be back on Tuesday.
Still Nole with the break in the 4th.

Shame. I was enjoying the rare sight of a rattled Nadal. Starting the final at 3pm is looking pretty silly now.

Yes, whoever made that decision should be shot, surely a 1pm start would be a reasonable compromise. I am off to bed, hoping for a 5th set, I have money on Djokovic in 5.

Now here is where I would post a quote where you did say that but with the new layout I have no idea how to do that anymore. Don't just flat out deny what you said. Calling her an embrassment to her profession is probably one of the lowest acts you can call someone, it just simply isn't on. Sam is a true profesisonal, conducts herself well on and off the court, a major winner in both singles and doubles.

You know I don't disagree with the sentmiment of the post, I'm the first one to call out on Sam's losses over the years and this one is arguably the worst ever but it's a loss, no need to make offensive posts like that. Sam's got to go out and try to forget this and move on, no point harping on about it now. And I think if you a GS you can live on that for the rest of your career, nobody can take that away.
I have looked back at the exact wording of my earlier post and you are indeed correct, hence I have added some edit notes and reiterated what I said in my subsequent post, that Sam's mental issues are embarrassing. Even that is probably too strong a thing to say for some people, but I'll leave it at that.

And that he was, so why shouldn't it be brought up?

Because he gets introduced as that pretty much anytime the media talk about him (at least in Adelaide). His previous achievements are irrelevant when it comes to him playing today. It's like the media need to justify him still playing based on past glories. In reality, he's just another plodder making up the numbers.

Been complaining to the umpire about the conditions of the court - guess what Rafa, it's the same for your opponent

Imagine the vitriol around here if Novak did that...

It was a horrible look, you play tennis, as a fan of both, I hate to see Rafa carry on. The conditions were just as bad in the 1st 2 sets....yet Nadal had no dramas thrashing Nole!

Not the first time Rafa does it and yet all Novak has to do is look sideways & he cops it from all directions

Don't know how much sway US television has over the timing ... but the final started at 9am (New York time) this morning. Sounds silly, but that's all I can think of. If they started at 1pm, it would be pretty early for a Sunday morning in the US (and nobody would be watching in California). On a Mon/Tue, they can start earlier and have people on the east coast watching before they go to work.

Probably the reasoning, however it doesn't make it any less stupid though. These were exceptional circumstances. Even 1 hour earlier...it is only 8am in the US...it is not as if it was 4am!

Yeah his acheivements are "irrelevant" to today's tennis, but technically can't you say that about all acheievements in any sport? Every match is different, the past techinically never means anything, but you can't just "forget about" or dismiss what he did. Its not as though people don't realise that times have changed and those days are long gone. If everyone quit playing because they weren't gonna be "champions" then where would that leave things? No justification is needed as to why he still plays, obviously he still gets something out of it personally, and that's all that matters (apart from making money but that's another story). Seriously there are pleanty of good players who don't even win 1 slam, let alone 2, it'll be relevant for the rest of his life.
