SHill will now sit out injured :( after picking up his 3rd BOG - a sign of how much we will miss him. Along with Hill, it's Fyfe and Mundy who have jumped out on the leader board. But, all said and done, it's pretty close really - a good thing I'm sure.

It's not too often that both Mundy and Fyfe would not pick up votes if playing, but that's exactly what happened. With Steven Hill not playing, that is our current top 3 players not represented among our better players on the day. Helps explain why we were never really in the game.

Good to see Brad Hill at the top of the voting this week for the first time since joining the Dockers. Tabs blasted his way into the team with a top 3 voting display himself for the first game of the season. Neale is keeping on and Blakely is proving a fairly regular vote getter too.

Great work PapaJ as always.

Good to see Kersten get on the board. I was very doubtful in him, especially after the JLT and the first 2 games when the whole team played poorly.

Still not 100% sold yet, but he's now had 2 very good games (Melbourne and Essendon). Kicked the match winning goal against North and is on track for a 30 goal season. Probably deserves to be higher than 21st on the list.

It's a tough gig being a frwd and getting noticed in these sorts of voting - especially with the delivery our Dockers are famous for offering :$. Unless you have a game like Tabs, it won't always stand out.

He's doing OK though. He's no Pav, but he's a good fwd, he basically gets it. Saw him a few times screen others to free players etc. and his own game still has some upside to come I think.

Brad Hill is in the form of his life but was pipped by by Walters who had a huge game. Johnson, like Walters, has come into some form and is picking up votes now as with or new recruits in Hamling and Kersten who, after a slow start, are getting our attention too. With Fyfe and Mundy not quite as dominant as years gone by, it's making for a very tight leader-board overall.

Neale was a clear BOG in our voting followed by Walters who's move to the midfield continues to bring his skills to the fore. The coach didn't think too much of Blakely's game, but we did with the young mid rounding out our top 3 quite comfortably ahead of the veterans in Sandi and Johnson.

Slim pickings in such a poor game, but the pickings seemed obvious with the same top 4 or 5 players chosen by most voters. Among them it was Weller who was comfortably ahead of the rest. For whatever reason, the young player seemed the only one who actually impact the game for extended periods and was clearly our best player on the day.

Interesting voting this week. Though most picked a similar top 5 or so, the order was all over the place. I think it depended on what part of the game one focused on. Having said that, Blakely emerged as a fairly popular BOG with Hamling and Walters quite close to each other rounding out our top 3. Really it was quite close for all those behind Blakely with most of our 'better players' having moments rather than solid games from start to finish.

I know it was a while ago now, but there was a game in Brisbane that most of us probably chose to forget. Most of the players forgot it was on themselves so we're in good company there. There were some who at least gave it a shot, these are who we thought were our better players:

Blakely was considered a fairly clear BOG by us voters followed by Weller. After that, however, it was extremely tight with only a few votes separating the rest of our better performers. Special mention obviously has to go to Darcy who impressed many on debut. Tucker too was strong among the votes. Clearly we all love the young blokes, but no doubt they deserved some attention this week. They were strong performers in what is a tough venue for many teams.

You couldn't get a clearer BOG than Walters in this game having one of his best ever and unanimously picked up top votes. Though votes spread out after that, it was again our younger players who drew attention with Hughes, Hamling and Darcy rounding out our top vote getters. Losing is never fun, but if we see good performances from certain players, it does make things easier and it was good to see them in the votes. Shout out to Suban who was amongst it too.

Guess who's back? Yep, Fyfe was voted out BOG for the first time this year. Though he's had some solid games, stand-out BOG has alluded the champ since his injury issues from two years ago. Also up there is Blakely who, in a very tight overall table, has sneaked into first place - and that's with one less game than some of his peers too (anyone wan't to go surfing?). On top of that, lots of young guys filling out the minor placings once again which is pleasing given where we're at. Here are the numbers:

Sad to see Stephen Hill dropping down so much. Has been a shadow of the player he was in the early rounds. Really hoping we get to see some killer games from him before the end of the season.

He looked like he was going to absolutely dominate these sorts of voting. Not only was he good, but just consistently good - then the injury(s) hit and, yeah, as you say, nothing like what we'd seen early. Seemed to be moving a bit better on the weekend, looked the best he has since he first went out I thought - so hopefully we'll see him back at his best soon.

In a game where a lot went right but was overshadowed in most people's minds by what happened in front of goal and those muffed opportunities, it was still good to acknowledge who did better on the day. So well done to Fyfe who was voted our best once again followed by an emerging Blakely who is becoming a consistent presence amongst our better players. Here is the how we laid out the voting.

Fairly unanimous call on our top two with Blakely and Fyfe (once again) filling out the top levels. It was very tight after that with Darcy continuing to impress voters in his first season and Hamling close in the voting. Special mention should go to Kersten who, after some indifferent form (according to BF anyway), managed to pull decent votes too. Here are the numbers:
