The match day report laid against Fremantle's Ethan Hughes for contact on Collingwood's Ben Reid from the fourth quarter of Saturday's match was assessed. The ball is loose at half forward for Collingwood. Ben Reid goes down to collect the ball. Hughes approaches from the opposite direction and makes contact with Reid. It was the view of the MRO that there was insufficient force to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.

Pretty sure they said he missed him... not that it would get countless mentions like the pinky touch by Mayne. Reid only went back and slotted the goal.

You could focus on 20 incidents in the game in deciding an outcome.

They banged on about a zone defense which resulted in Walter’s match winner. Watch it again and you could make a case for Matera being on the move and dragging out one of the zone defenders. If you wanted to be crazy enough I’m sure the zone defense repelled dozens of our attacks. But they won’t show all those.

Switta's pressure acts and repeat efforts were sensational. Also had a terrific mark on the wing I forgot about

Cerra - shocking miss - very disappointing.

It was dissapointing. But Cox's handball in the first place was stupid. Kid has got to get some confidence and have a shot. Passed off vs Essendon too.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned (haven't read all the replies, sorry) but marks are paid all the time that come off other player's hands and if that were a marking contest where the opposition got that fingertip to it, 99.99% it's called a mark. So if that were to happen and the player who marked the ball went on to kick a goal where the eventual result was less than a goal, would there be the same kind of uproar?

I'm guessing the ridicule is aimed at the AFL review system but there will be incidents like this all throughout a game.

Anyway, great win and great way to go into the bye. The next 3 are very winnable and could set us up nicely to play finals.

Subtle. Would've probably be more along the lines of "Bed Reid milked the free kick, no further action taken". He went down thinking he get hit int he face, when he got hit in the shoulder. A Jack Darling move he would be proud of

He still got first touch..............only slight but it was there. So a mark

A couple of moments went our way, but the balance of play was definitely in our favour over the course of the match. Same with the Pies game (moreso IMO).

Footy is such a chaotic game where if one team wins by a point, it's tempting to put a lens on every fluke kick or umpiring decision, but its just a fact randomness and imperfect umpiring is apart of the game. All you can do to control it is to be the team first to the ball and kicking for goal so decisions can go your way in the first place.

Footy is not like chess where the higher rated player will win almost every single game against a weaker opponent and all variables are controllable. You really do need luck on your side in AFL.

It wasn’t a definite dominance from either Brisbane or Fremantle. Ebbed and flowed. But we deserved it in the last quarter that’s for sure. Brisbane just tried to defend and shut up shop.

Against Collingwood, we controlled the play. Just didn’t get the effeniency up forward, although it happened in the third quarter. Pies had a lot of lucky free kicks and snagged a few incredible goals.

You see the progress. When it clicks it clicks for longer the last couple. A lesser side than the pies would have been out of the game after that third quarter.

Footy is not like chess where the higher rated player will win almost every single game against a weaker opponent and all variables are controllable. You really do need luck on your side in AFL.

In football you can control the probabilities and work to have them in your favour. If you have more possessions, more shots on goal, more forward 50 entries, if you control the midfield, the clearances, if you tag that player, etc, then the probability of a win is higher.
