For such a great team, they havn't actually achieved much. According to Sabre they are going to do this and that every year.

Sabre would lead us to believe they have a great forward line, brilliant midfield, excellent defence, yet they couldn't even make the top 8. Why is this? Do they have a culture problem down there at the port or something?

According to Sabre and their cocach give them a running midfielder (ie. Headland) and all their problems are solved. Who knew Des Headland was so good.

I think Des is the most overrated player in the comp...

Freo may do well next year, although I said this at the start of this year

Most of our key position players are 20/21 and need a bit more time to develop. And we need some running midfielders... someone like Yze would be perfect.

Its not age its skill and ability and the competence of recruiters.

Dockers start hiring skilled recruiters not people who make excuses, Chris Connolly admitted the Docks had "crap" players.

They had quality all around them.

Do you expect McDougall, Gaspar, Glass etc. to lead you to a premiership when they are 20? No. When they are 24? Perhaps.

Poor Freo.....I have actually only hated them 3 times in my life, after each derby loss. The rest of the time, they just have my pity.

Interestingly, the Dockers main recruiting guy, Phil Smart (yeah, I know) has been there from the start.

Mind you a lot of Freo people blame the coaches (Neesham & Drum) rather than the recruiting staff.

Also, it's in Connelly's interest to say that he's inherited crap players - that way the expectations of his performance are downplayed. Like when he set expectations that the Dockers should only be expected to reach the Finals in his 3rd year - which I think is rubbish - they should have got in the Eight this year, but certainly next year.
