According to the Age Freo have shown interest in Mark Johnson and Richard Hadley.

Richard Hadley, if relatively cheap, could be a sensational pickup, much more to offer than MJ. Would love this to go through, but what would we send to Brissy. The only thing I can think of is a three-way trade that sees Murphy off to Victoria, someone up to Brissy.

It may be two, definitely one.

Macca and Webster have also had two and are fine now, so players can come good after multiple knee surgery, plus Hadley was a more gifted footballer than Macca and Webster prior to the reconstructions.

Depending on what we have to give up for the guy, Hadley could be a sensational pickup as you'd expect he'd be well and trully on the comeback trail by now- could end up a similar result as getting an injury prone McPharlin from Hawthorn??

Anyway, as to Mark Johnson, my only thought is that Harvey worked with him for years and must respect him highly to even think about him. Most of us doubted his allegience to Solly and look how wrong we were with that- MJ might be a worthwhile short term prospect if we get him very cheaply?

It was also reported on Real Footy that Mathew Knights said that someone had expressed interest in Kepler Bradley as well as Mark Johnson, so wouldn't be suprised to hear our name linked to that soon too.

Go for Hadley above the others though

Same article also states that we've expressed a keen interest in Essendon wingman Ricky Dyson. Must confess I dont know much about him.

Is he worth it?

they seem pretty keen to get rid of him on the dons board fwiw

the article also says we have had enquiries about schammer. didnt he just sign a 2 year deal?

why on earth we would be willing to trade for MJ and Ricky Dyson at the expense of Schammer and Murphy is just beyond me, can someone explain to me what the logic behind that would be from Mark Harvey besides creating an Essendon old boys club :thumbsd:
Why is trade week a nervous time for us despite whoever's in charge:eek:

No one is suggesting that Murphy and Schammer for Dyson and MJ is on the cards.

Hadley - Would be great pick up, 25 y/old, Premiership player, 190cm midfielder with a bit of toe

Dyson - I rate him even higher than Hadley, 23 y/old by September next season, 184cm wingman/midfielder, very good long kick

Johnson - 30 next year, not getting any quicker...Solly is enough thanks. Not required IMO

Johnstone - 28 next year, quick, silky...but soft as butter & inconsistent. Can be brilliant, can go missing. Cheap buy...yes....otehrwise...no thanks

I thought it was Matt Moody we were keen on from Brisbane.

Hadley - for Webster maybe?

Dyson - would take him at the right price.

Johnson - no way. :thumbsd:

Johnstone - no thanks.

Moody hasn't been mentioned, but he's not contracted, we may be able to poach him via PSD

Hadley is a Willeton High boy who showed alot of promise as a junior. But he is cursed by a terrible run with injuries and for that reason we should avoid him. AFL players need an element of luck in their careers - Hadley has none.

......and Hadley getting injured.

add browne & dunn GJ

Harvey was quoted saying something along the lines of we would be looking to acquire youthful tallish midfielders. 25 isnt that old and he is 190cm... Hadley would be a good pickup "at the right price" tho

I reckon Brisbane's asking price on Hadley would be too high.

Webster was very good before his first knee injury, captained the WA under 18's iirc.

The difference between Johnson and Solomon is that Solly was 26. Johnson must be 30. I'm hoping that we only showed interest in him since it looked like Belly would retire, now that he's playing on we don't want Johnson. We want to add height and pace to Josh/Hase/Bell, not another short slow bloke.

We don't want Kepler Wessels.

Definitely not. Its bad enough having Bell commute from Gero than having to rely on Kepler Wessels flying in from South Africa at his age.

Although the team would collect some handy frequent flyer points...
