Brown used Marshmallow Lloyd as a speed ball last year so he is having a spell for the 1st couple of weeks

Id put Croad on Pav, but i reckon Smith could do the job.

If Osborne goes anywhere near Farmer, the Wiz will kick 25. Id put Clarke on him with Brown out. Sewell to Medhurst.

Campbell can handle Longmuir, but McPharlin, well i hope Clarko knows who to play on him..

Think Osborne is made for farmer. Has some good jobs on guys like Davey in the past, and has the speed and ability in the air to do the job.

Dawson on McPharlin? Boyle? Not sure, but it'll be interesting. I reckon we'll be dropping numbers back on every occasion.

Not with the way Osborne's career is heading. Farmer will murder him..

Dawson is not ready yet IMO, but we might have to throw him down there..

What does Clarke have to do to get remembered around here? He does everything asked and still seems unwanted. I think he's a lock to be in this week's 22.
I think we'll see 2 of these three: Campbell Dawson & Boyle - but not all 3.
I also think Milller and Young may be in the mix.

HB: Smith Croad Hodge
C: Crawford Mitchell Clarke
HF: Franklin Roughead Ladson
F: Dixon Williams Miller

Sewell to Medhurst.
Medhurst left the training track early tonight with what appeared to be a groin injury. So he's in doubt.

Freo will go into the match with a much depleted back line. Injuries and suspension have hit hard.

Sewell will be given Farmer imo.

Clarke - Bell.

Pav - ?? If they want to play Croad forward obviously, it aint going to be him. Can't say the idea of Smith going to him appeals though Smith has 'lifted' to play on players he's been outsized on before. Just so long as it isn't Jacobs who's asked to do it. Roughead is always a chance to be pushed back as well if things go pear-shaped.

This might sound scary and/or stupid but I want DJ on McPharlin. Yea, he's got it all over him for pace, athletic ability, one thing DJ has all over McPharlin, footy nous. Reckon he's adept enough at knowing 'space' that he can negate Mcpharlin and offer some generalship from the back half.

Forwards? Williams has got to be F/F, let Roughead lead into the top of the square from a pocket or something but OUT of the square, let Willo be the main target to go to. Buddy up at half-forward, Boyle or Croad as the CHF.

On ball should be pretty much straight forward, Crawford and Mitchell a Carr each. Bateman - Headland head to head etc. Can't see to many surprises being sprung from either side.

Really feel unsure going in, hopeful we can keep up the recent decent winning form but lets face it, there isn't much to base that faith on.

See what happens Sunday I suppose.

I`m along time reader, first time poster
Getting back to the original thread, last year I was at that game fantastic day, went with my bombers mate who was so ********ed that he spent good money to see me happy.
Anyway, Croad played Pav and Hay on Mcpharlin
Croad went off concussed, and I think Jacobs took him
So Pav ended up being best for freo
With Mcpharlin, Chris Comedy decided to play him in defence after half time, that and the fact it started to spit, I knew we had it. And yeah I really cashed in $$$$$

You have left out Timmy Clarke and Clinton Young .... I confidently predict those two will be in the 22. Timmy will be in the starting 18.

Always wanted to have a go at this
my line up would be
B- Campbell Jacobs Guerra
HB- Vanders Croad Dawson
C- Ladson Mitchell Crawford
HF- Smith Roughie Boyle
F- Franklin Williams Dixon
I- Sewell Clark Taylor Young

What do you guys think of this line up?
I`d definately have Croad on Pav, and agree with Grendel about Jacobs taking Mcpharlin and just reading the play. If Mcpharlin gets on top, we have options in Boyle, Roughie, Dawson, Smith. Freo doesn`t really have the best defence, so hopefully our young forwards being fed by the likes of hodge, crawf, ladson and mitchell will do alright.

No apologies needed Barbster, welcome and it's a good line-up you've named too.

Probably the only changes I'd make is Taylor in the f/p, Boyle to the b/p and Campbell to the bench on the starting 18. That and swap Vanders and Smith on the flanks.

Only a couple of days now and we will know for certain just who's in, an official named side! Now that's when you know the footys back!

the reason why i bring it up is because, by most reports i have read,I get the feeling Buddy needs to be a focal point all the time to keep him interested.
If he is plays on a flank he is allowed to play the game when he chooses, making he flash in and out.

My point is if we can keep Buddy in the play without him having to think about it too much, he will learn alot quicker and become a better player.
Playing him on a flank he can switch off.

think matches hinge greatly on where justin longmuir plays, if he plays fwd would think croad would go back, with croad smith, and dawson covering pavlich, longmuir and mcpharlin (as not real keen on jacobs taking one of these for the whole match). Again might be down to which coach blinks first if croad starts fwd for hawks and longmuir for freo, as freo appear undermanned in height for defence when taking on roughie, croad, franklin. Then again jacobs would be takin maybe longmuir or mcpharlin and smith on pavlich which may cause us problems.
Howver if buddy can hold down chf, and boyle stands up then all of this is a moot point as croad will head down back.

Possible line-up

Guerra Dawson Jacobs
Smith Croad Ladson
Bateman Mitchell Young
Boyle Franklin Crawf
Williams Roughead Dixon
Everitt Hodge Vanders

Campbell, Clarke, Lewis, Birchall

Looks good doesn't it?

I'm getting goose bumps, not to mention pre-match nerves and it's only Wednesday arvo. Ill be wreck by the start of the game. Will need plenty of XXXX to settle the nerves. If we win out comes the Crown Lager .. oh the spoils of being a winner.

with news of franklin out for round 1, have to guess croad may go forward. Just speculating anyone reckon tom murphy might be a chance as a tall defensive option? Neither mcpharlin or longmuir are lightening fast so he should be able to keep up and contest well. (as reports he is lacking a bit of pace but contests well and good endurance)
Eg croad goes fwd and backline of
guerra dawson murphy
jacobs smith ladson
another selection from left field what about matt little to provide another fwd option? (with croad stayin back) forward line of
Little Boyle crawf
williams rough dixon
If buddy is out, who comes in to replace?

what about croad fwd, campbell back and taylor in as ruck/fwd pocket?

Only a few more days to go......
