Morley according to that crime stats page only had 100 less than midland per annum. That's 2 a week. not a big difference. Dianella is always busy because it's so large. I always found the area was a target for crooks rather than a homeground for them. Lots of burglaries etc.
Yep that's true, it's a bit more affluent but easily accessible for lots of dodgy areas, living in a place like that now.

Just going to add; nothing has convinced me more that Connor Blakely is going to be a future All-Australian than that game he played on the weekend. He's bulked up significantly, contested possession beast, incredibly improved his kicking, great contested mark in the last quarter, smooth as silk in traffic, shut down Zach Merrett after half time after he was tearing us a new one in the first half. He's genuinely a Mundy 2.0 in the making. And what's even more impressive is that he's relishing in the challenge of improving every part of his game. Coming in as a skinny kid where inside the midfield was his primary habitat he's expanded his defensive and offensive game fantastically. Massive props to you Connor :thumbsu:

Also just for the sake of keeping this a thing, gotta say Tom Lamb is still the better player, devo West Coast got him before us.

I have just got to add that Connor is explosive away from the contest as well. His shut down work has been a revelation. Can't wait to see him go to Dusty on Sunday.

Yeah he's become a shut down player in the mold of Cameron Ling.

If he can start kicking a couple of snags he'll be invaluable

Dusty will really test him, as he's got the explosive pace and endurance

and power! Breaks tackles at ease once up and going. Huge test for Connor. I remember watching him in a 2 on 1 in close exercise preseason with Mundy and Fyfe and he was very good but did struggle to hold them up especially Fyfe. Martin will be another thing again.

I do need to reiterate it's reported crime.

People in Midland wouldn't necessarily report much of the crime. Working in the area, I see first hand the level of respect people have for authority. It borders zero.

Yeah, I suppose if someone breaks into your house when you are out and steals the 8 ball of speed and 5 ounces of weed that you planned to sell that week you can hardly call the police.

Much as I hate to disagree with you but it has been done before, many times.

Remember, crime is an equal opportunity employer. Even the stupid get a go.

A bit like journalism really or commentating

I have more examples that I can recall off the top of my head. Situations where crime isn't reported.

Here's a couple of quickies:

1) A child came into school upset. Someone stole their TV. Dad didn't report it because he's been driving his unlicensed car and has outstanding fines yet to be paid. Fast forward many months from that story and dad did a few nights in jail to wipe off his fines.

2) Once a dad told me his child would perhaps be late every now and again as his car was stolen and they needed to catch the bus. Quick chin wag followed and then he said 'What goes around comes around I guess'. I replied 'Yeah, he'll get his... it's karma'. Dad said 'No I meant I stole it in the first place'

Our local shop also doesn't often report theft by school children. They'll report it to our school instead. These people know the families of the kids etc and would rather keep it in house then get police involve.

My favourite story and loosely related to the topic.

Child - Dad had all his plants and $67,000 stolen!
Me - What? What did the police say?
Child - I couldn't hear them. I had to go with grandma!

Obviously the police did a raid on his house, which I didn't realise straight away. It made headlines!

Dusty has been close to the best performer this year and I would regard him as the hardest player in the league to tag. Very interested in how Connor goes but remember the quality he is facing this week, Dusty is a very strong freak of a footballer.

I think it is a huge challenge. That is why I am so interested to see it.

Can't see Blakely going to Dusty, he spends too much time forward. Spurr is the only guy i can think of that may have a hope one on one. It'll all be about the midfield stopping supply.

Thinking about it for example I've had my car stereo flogged a couple of times years ago and I never reported it.

You just know it would go something like this anyway.

I just hope that whoever is on Dusty is trigger-ready for his "don't argues" and on cue grabs his arm, holds onto it with dear life and pulls down on it with all their weight. Stop him from running away in packs and you will nullify his effectiveness.
