Same for me. Was solid with flashes of good at the Hawks, but he has been really impressive with us. Close to our best today...
I miss Brad Hill.

I think he was among the top in the comp at some stage last season.I refuse to believe that was Matt bloody Taberner out there clunking 7 contested marks. Huge game.
Tucker 17 disposals and 6 marks to Balic 10 and 2.Balic is on the verge of a massive break out of leather it's only a matter of time before he regularly finds the ball and cements his spot for the season. tucker was quiet today to waft or another go at it?

I think playing him in wafl really improve his overall game this season.Btw Taberner looked good as back up ruck as well. And we won't have to change our backline setup when Sandi has well spell either...
He was Freo's leading contested mark last season. Beat Pav by a fair few.
The stories about him being a bad mark have never been correct
Don't really agree. When the second rucks go head to head it is a bit like when the clowns come on at the circus. But he did contribute and I am sure he will improve.Btw Taberner looked good as back up ruck as well. And we won't have to change our backline setup when Sandi has well spell either...

That can be said of all our wins so far this season, we have switched on for less than a half and piled on the scoring. The win masks how poor we actually were in that game
Something I noticed at the game - for the first 3 quarters or so, heppell was starting often at the back of the square then running hard into the centre to give them a +1 and they more often than not beat us at the clearance. Our guys off the opposing side of the square stayed defensive and got stuck in no man's land a lot. In the 4th essendon stopped this, and blakely was floating between merrett and heppell for bits of the game (walters was on heppell off their HB). Definitely think the heat took essendon out late, but some of the tactical shifts came our way too. Our tackles were static on 39 or so for the whole of the 4th. It was free flowing and low pressure. For the first half we were second to the ball and not tackling - holding off the player to claim space instead of shutting them down. A few times with their fumbled marks we could have cleaned them up if we had people closer to the contest rather than hanging off. Not enough intent to hunt the ball for mine. The win masks how poor we actually were in that game
Balic and GrayWas it Balic and Fyfe?
