I was hoping that Freo would win this weekend and maybe play a semi-final in Perth. FAT CHANCE.
Once again the cheating robs non victorian sides.
ONLY ONE SEMIFINAL CAN BE PLAYED OUTSIDE OF VICTORIA.

As Port are pretty certain to be the ONE Freo and Brisbane have no chance at all.

This really sucks as a home semifinal would have done wonders for building their membership base.

It's not that clear cut IMO. Certainly if Port win all 3 of their preliminary games they would warrant a home semi, but if Port or Sydney, Brisbane and Freo all won their groups, the AFL have said they would consider potential home crowds and the "promotion of the sport" in deciding which non-Vic team would be given a home semi. To me that sounds like they'd favour Brisbane or Sydney (although the Swans have slim hopes of getting there). Not sure who they'd choose if it was between Port and Freo. Ordinary as Port's crowds have been ,they're better than Freo's.

So GO PORT! - and Carlton, Richmond and Essendon

Frodo, cheating Victorian sides? Building membership? Gee isnt Freo who have had there first two games AT HOME!!!!!! Hawthorn have so far played in Tassie and Perth and had neither games televised AT ALL on free to air. Yea that really sounds like the AFL has been hard on Freo, playing two Melbourne based clubs in Perth first up must have been tough on your boys. Get rid of the persocution complex.

Im sorry part of that statement was correct while the majority of it was dead wrong.
Have a look at all the bottom sides in the Afl from last year. Now have a look at how many home ansett cup games they played.Yes thats right 2.So no its not a eagle/freo phenomina, its a collingwood/eagles/freo/port/crows etc phenomina.

Also the bottom "seeded" teams in all the groups play 2 home games.Hawthorne finish 4th so hawthorne get only 1 home game.Essendon finish 1st so essendon only get 1 home game etc.

Why don't you Freo supporters just let your team make the semi's first (which will be a miracle if it happens) instead of being worried about where the game will be played.

Sabre i take your point, didnt know sides were seeded like that in the Ansett Cup, but i wasnt trying to claim Freo were being deliberately advantaged just pointing out to Frodo that there isnt a conspiracy against non-Victorian sides, your points just clarify that even more. Cheers

QUick two points. One, Port are no certainties to be in the calculations. It's 14 v 6 from last season away at Colonial with just a 6 goal buffer. Very loseable.
Two, Port's crowds still command 42% of the SA AFL attendances in spite of not being as good as the 47% they were getting in 97. Three, I don't care where it's played, chances are any major final will be away so Port have to get used to it. THREE points. Pass the comfy cushion.

Don't get too excited about freo. One of melbourne and hawthorn will win and freo will need to improve its 'percentage' to beat that.

So if Melbourne beat Hwathorn freo would need to beat Richmond by some 60 points or so I think.

How often have freo won by 60 points ?

How can the AFL be promoted as a national sport if Victorian teams are heavily benefited by the system. An interesting question.........which some of you vics will undoubetdly come up with a smart arse answer to

Visro, it's not. It's a Victorian comp which we have graciously invited you guys to participate in, and we changed the name to AFL so that you would feel more welcome.

Or maybe the interstate sides took a scummy little state caterpillar and made it into a beautiful butterfly
