McBurney (sp?) was bloody awful against us as well. Heart testing match to be at. Not quite payback for round 1"s belting. Roo & Mcleod both bloody good.

God, where to start, so much good and bad out of this game for us.

Burton's second quarter was a disgrace and as such he gets no votes from me. his brain fades are ridiculous.

John**** Smart and Burton missed 5 goals that should have been socred.

Ayres coaching was shocking. Bassett got towelled by McManus, McGregor should never have been forward and why keep J'coock
on the bench for so long - put him in the backlines!!!

We got creamed out of the centre in the second qtr and Ayres was too slow to move Clarke back into the middle.

Roo and McLeods' work in close in the second half was a joy to behold with Roo's left hand handballs being fantastic.

Some of Freo's goals were just brialliant play, and for that they should be applaued.

I thought Hart did well on Pavlich and didn't think he was that effective to be honest. I had drank a lot before and during the game though.

Rutten was good in the first half but faded and Hentschell used the ball well when he got it.

Perrie was fantastic in the second half and he worked his guts out

If we had one of our other forwards we would have won the game

Massie was also missed.

Funniest moment was Tyson Edwards gettng a free and playing on out of bounds for about ten metres. Classic

How about McPharlin running 40 metres with the ball without bouncing it in the last qtr

Terrible umpiring all day - a bit both ways though.

First of we can't blame the umpires for getting beat !! we created enough chances to score goals & came up short we had 5 or 6 shots on goal that should have gone through (hang your heads Stiffy & Nige) & that last goal of the game scored by Farmer !!! well enough said about that bloody episode,

McGregor should never start up forward again & i've said all along he struggles away from his comfort zone at chb,

Matty Bode might not be getting as much game time as he would like but bloody hell he should wake up & make the most of what time he does get & i realise hair colours/styles don't make the footballer but bloody heck Matty your hair is a bloody disgrace & justs sets you up for a down-wood spiral,

BoG
5 = M Ricciuto, Equal Brownlow fav in my book
4 = A Mcleod, all class
3 = C Ladhams, gave the top 2 great support
2 = M Clarke, terrific effort in ruck
1 = J Torney, tried hard all day & done the 1%

BTM
3 = M Ricciuto, eat your heart out Porthos
2 = M Bickley, we will miss this guy next year
1 = B Burton, pity about his 2nd quarter

Rookie, ( at last )
2 = B Rutten, great start to the game & plenty to build on
1 = T Hentschel, ok effort but still not sure about this guy (his effort in-front of Headland as the dockers scored the first goal was a little disappointing)

Hentschels had three chances and blown them all, wow; he kicked a good pass to Rutten...Big deal. He got shown up in the heat of battkle a couple of times too.

I could blame many people including Burton, John****, Ayres and bad umpiring but the bottom line is Bad Kicking is Bad Football.

Very observant Dave & Stiffy. Go back & have a look at the votes & work it out. ;) I'll give you a clue. Should actually be:

Apologies Kane.

I certainly never meant to split my vote on the rookie vote. Rather, I thought that we could give a vote to more than 1 rookie.

If that's wrong, then my 1 vote goes to Rutten.

I don't think split votes should be part of the voting process at all - makes it ridiculously hard for the person tallying the votes.

Just curious. The people who have rated Begley as being in our top five players for the game. WHAT GAME WERE YOU WATCHING???????

Some of the comments here re-enforce to me the difference between watching a match on TV and watching at the ground where you see all the options presented to the player with the ball.

No way could Perrie get any vote in any category. I agree he tried hard but some of his decision making left a bit to be desired. On three occasions he took a good mark then just wheeled around and kicked blindly to a Freo player on 2 occasions and a 2-on-1 situation the third time. Result- Freo took the ball down the ground without us touching it and scored 2 goals and one point.

John**** deserved to spend the rest of the match on the bench once he was dragged 15 minutes too late by the coach. He did not look interested, did not chase his opponent and seems to be believing things people are writing about him.

I thought we were out-coached and Freo players were smarter on the day. Freo basically won with an 8 goal burst in 20 minutes and only scored 5 goals for the rest of the game but little was done to stem the tide ( although everything went right for them in that 20 minutes)

Cheers,

a.j.
