cracking game with both teams are full strength. Pies 7 less scoring shots and pulled 2 goals out of their arse with Cox and Adams.

McCarthy a great mark but decision making pretty average. Fyfe skills rusty.

Whats up with Neale?

Neale? First game after shoulder and elbow surgery

It's only preseason but that one kick has made my weekend that much better. Pork butt is in the Weber, beer's cold in the fridge, dog's been walked and now it's time to kick back and watch the cricket and cycling

:thumbsu::thumbsu: Have one for me

How could you not want him? Especially for us with his polish & gut running to create opportunities.

As I said at the time, I thought he was the type of outside player who'd look good in Hawthorn's system but struggle in ours.

A downhill skier I guess, if you wanted to reduce it to a populist soundbite.

I was ok with getting him cheap, just didn't want to give up much for him in case he turned into another Freo retirement village cruiser from our early days.

Neale's first game back since an operation. McCarthy was a huge step up from last week. If he keeps increasing at this rate he'll be in good shape by game 1.

didnt know that, so that explains that.

Anyway media and fans say this is only JLT but the headspace players get into when they are winning does wonders for future games. Reckon youre set for a big year so long as Sandilands and Fyfe stay uninjured

Fyfe lacking confidence in front of goal? Should have gone back and nailed that one.

I interpreted that more as a developing captain feeling obligated to share the ball around. I'm pretty confident he would've taken the shot in a real game.

Kersten Tabiner and Apeness all playing for one spot especially if Griffen plays like he did today

Was a total different performance from last week but nothing to get carried away with. Collingwood arnt going to be a contender this year. Neither are Carlton next week. Will be good for confidence going into round 1 though. Was good to see brad hill and hamling step up and see McCarthy show a little bit. If we get a good win over geelong in round 1 then that's something worth celebrating

We need targets up forward, bombing long to Sandi isn't the greatest strategy. What then when he retire? That was the biggest issue when we had Pav- kick it long to him or sideways

How does Dawson have -1 afl fantasy. I know he isn't a good fantasy player but even so.
Dawson was awesome today. Don't care about stats. Playing him in lock down role on Moore freed up Hamling and Johno to run off their man. We are a significantly better team with him in it. Not a popular opinion, but geez anyone notice how many time Hamling ran off his man compared to a week ago when he played on Kennedy?

Another unpopular opinion. When Alex Pearce returns he should play as a forward. By far our biggest weakness is a lack of tall forwards who can gain separation from a defender. Alex Pearce has all the physical attributes to be that player.

Bombing it long to Sandi had their defense spend the next quarter crowding the hot spot while our forwards were picked off in space, and their runner couldn't change the defensive plan fast enough.

Makes me wonder if it is a rope a dope plan to sacrifice a quarter to put five goals on in the next

Yes please. His ceiling is far higher than Tabs or Apeness. Or Kersten.
