So much went wrong in the 1st half. Skill errors were among the worst of the year and the atrocious umpiring that was the difference really amplified how terrible things looked. I'm pretty happy with the 2nd half response though considering the side we fielded. Leaders and coaching lead the way.

Thought Duman played his best game, pretty composed kid.
Good debut by Switty.
Langdon BOG.

I think we should debut Strad or Meek for Darcy next week.

- Switta showed promise, probably a bit too unselfish in the first quarter.
- Duman played well - can work on disposal but got to good positions.
- Nyhuis and Gray showed promising signs again.
- Darcy had a strong second half.
- 6 goals (and a few easy misses) by the three talls.

Won two quarters today, just outscored significantly to be enough for the game.
First quarter was barely WAFL standard. Abysmal.
Good to see Tabs/Cox/Mccarthy combining today. 6 goals between them, could've been 8. But a sign of things to come.

I thought Ross’ interview before the game was quite candid. Said our group was slow, that he wanted more versatile mid-sized players over talks and smalls. And that the 3 pronged fwd line that we played today was ‘the future’.

Poor first half but the players responded in the second. There's a lot to work with in the forwardline, the boys just to keep stringing games together. Cam was almost our best today.

Neale's a gem. Carrying a lot of the midfield workload with Fyfe out. Good signs from some of the younger guys on the periphery like Giro, Duman etc. Plus we cracked the magic 100.

By no means a superb performance, but plenty to be positive about all things considered.

Ma Gawd, that first first...

Was really happy with Nyhuis backing up his Port game with a good performance. I think he has to be best 22 because hes brilliant 1 on 1 and one of the only players that can match up well on smalls. Hoping he backs it up again next week

There is no way Langdon was anywhere Neale or Mundy for BOG

This might be harsh but can you imagine McCarthy if he had the attitude of Fyfe.

My year old daughter has more definition in her arms than him. I love the guy but games like today show the natural talent he has. Just need him to want it a bit more

Challenged early but we were well down. A number of players were going at 80% or less, skills were s**t and Carlton were much more organised, particularly at the stoppages but all over the ground.

After half time the effort went up and Carlton couldn't cope.

Some good signs from a few players but at the end of the day it was against Carlton at our home. Good win, bank the 4 points and move on.

Another injury to one of our better players was disappointing. Especially a soft tissue leg injury that we seem to specialise in. When was the last season that Walters finished a season fit and healthy? Hill? Blakely? Fyfe? We've got to get better at injury prevention and management.

We were younger and less experienced today. Not a bad performance or result when you consider all the outs.

Meh. If that diabolical first half had continued the melt-down would have been astronomical but we cleaned it up in the 2nd. Can't really draw much from that one.

I think these sort of games really highlight why the transition away from Sandi is going to be quite painful for the next season or two. Darcy needs games at the highest level but he still needs a lot of work.

Very happy that Ross has discovered Tabs, Cox and McCarthy are the future (even if he is extremely late to that party). With Walters, McCarthy is probably the only player we've got that is genuinely mercurial in the forward line and we simply have to make it work with him.

At half time I was thinking I would have to stay away from this place for a while lest I cop a stray brick.

I actually missed a fair bit of the 2nd and 3rd quarters so will have to catch the replay. First quarter was ordinary but the 3rd must have been pretty good.

Impressed by Switta.
Cerra looks like his no pre-season has well and truly caught up with him.
