^Agreed.

**** the umps, and **** Paul Roos.

That play when Mzungu got held and then fell on his head was the worst part of the match. It could've swung the momentum our way well & truly.

I used to like paul roos, but his commentary on the weekend was biased, unprofessional and frankly, a disgrace... he should not be allowed to commentate on sydney games... same as eddie commentating on pies games

I think the mids have got to step up too in terms of having shots on goal. You seem the great teams play, once their mid is inside 50 and can see the goal posts, they have a ping, generally with success.

He just kept referring to the Swans as 'Our' and 'we'. 'Our structures', 'we need to'. Ffs.. does he know the telecast is nationwide?

Yeah, it's more than just the forwards named in the OP, it's the general attitude from all our players in front of goal. One of the few instances where the rest of our playing group should be more like Ryan Crowley.

It's just one of many reasons why Crowley and De Boer should swap roles.

Mellington, Walters, Pavlich and Ballantyne are probably* our only 'one touch' forwards. It's as much about natural instincts as it is about player mentality.

Mayne used to love kicking a goal; not so much nowadays.

*Not sure about some of the new recruits/rookies.

We could have used one of the 2 local gun (junior) full forwards we passed over in the last 2 drafts. You can't necessarily teach that forward instinct.

De Boer is far better at trapping the ball in our forward half then Crowls - sure he isn't as good a shot on goal but his presence in the forward half is immense

I'm not trying to diminish De Boer's contribution up forward. De Boer is just far better around stoppages than Crowley. He can win his own ball, has decent hands and actually tackles.

Crowley gets into dangerous positions up forward, isn't afraid of having a shot and can stick to a task. If he's in the side, the defensive half forward role seems ideal IMO. With a combination of Ballantyne, Neale, Mayne and Mellington up forward we should be defensive enough.

Ultimately, I'm probably just sick of seeing Crowley around stoppages and want him positioned somewhere else whilst he's in the line-up.

I have no idea why they don't rest 211 at fullforward. He has been at the club for an internity and I have been wanting for this to happen for that long. It may fail? but are we ever to know?one thing is certain ,he will out reach anybody in the comp for the mark or bring it down to our crumbing forwards. He could be a real weapon and would encourage us to kick it long to him, straighten us up.

It's been tried plenty of times over the years, the fact that you haven't noticed is the reason it doesn't happen more. He struggles to get to the contest in time and if its bombed on top of his head he's generally struggled to take the mark. Once the ball hits the ground his man becomes dangerous and Sandi is totally out of it.

and that's exactly why they didn't pay either of the frees. They knew what they were doing.

Do you know why this is? No arm chops etc paid to him. You watch the frees Franklin got yesterday, then think how many of those Sandilands gets paid....zero, zip, nada.

Being that tall is an impediment as the maggots put the whistle away.

I can't argue with you there Lach. Totally correct.

You know what's also ****ed? Ashton Hams still gets frees for being a short arse...if Sandi took his head off, it's not like they say "Sandi, we know he comes to your knees, so stiff shit Ashton".

Even if Sandilands did take marks being the fifth goal post, he exhibits the exact problem as the majority of our forwardline. He'd handball off to a player in a poorer position rather than take the shot (cf. game in round 24 last year against the Western Bulldogs).

I don't know what was wrong with him that day. I think he had about 5 set shots and got maybe two. From memory I think missed from 15 out straight in front, and after that he started hand balling even for easy ones.
He's usually not a bad kick for goal.

Sandi does this around the ground as well, sometimes putting the recieving player under preasure rather than going back and talking his kick. I'm not sure he's very confident with his kicking, 14 handballs to 5 kicks on the weekend and it seems to always be that way.

Simple, he was wearing American Gridiron boots .
They aren't designed for kicking. He was wearing them as added protection for his toe injury.
Put in simplistic terms ;
Our coach stationed him at Full fwd because he was having trouble running around with his toe injury.
He was wearing boots that you can't kick with.
It was a game where Freo's best interests would have been served by a loss in terms of draft selections by finishing lower on the ladder.
Essentially , Sandi should not have been on the ground.

Our forwards need to play more golf.

It's the exact same thought process when you have a small landing area for a drive, or a metre and a half putt, as it is when you're 30-40m out on a sight angle.

Hear, hear.

Love your work Prattsta. My thoughts exactly. Crowley matching up against their most dangerous HBF. Get him out of the centre... doesn't belong there.

I love Mayne, Mellington, De Boer, and sort of like Pearce, but I can't how 4 defensive forwards can kick either goals.

For me De Boer needs to spend more time in the midfield and maybe we should bring in Crozier.
