Congratulations on the win. I personally didn't mind the umps tonight. I liked the deliberates. In many games players make no attempt to keep it in, but get away with it because they were under pressure. But maybe thats just me

Hey at least the deliberates were consistent(ly bad). There was a period in the second quarter where holding was no longer a free kick. Clearly abuse no longer was either. The deliberate at around 1.35 from the end against McKenzie was baffling tho!

congratulations on the win tonight, a really enjoyable game I thought, bizarre umpiring notwithstanding (the result sucked too haha!).

Cox & Naitanui produced the kind of form for which they are renowned, they are great in tandem and were far too classy for the workman-like Stephenson tonight.

I liked the games of Hurn, Priddis, Kerr and Gaff too. Glass wasn't bad either.

One of the umpires wikipedia pages is hilarious

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troy_Pannell

What makes Pannell a remarkable AFL officiator is the fact that he was born without eyes, or a brain. This makes officiating rationally extremely difficult for Pannell. But that has not stopped him from excelling at ruining the AFL experience for millions of fans. Pannell is known for his over officious style of umpiring, and very feminine running style.

Waiting for the edit page to load to see when that went in. Wiki = history of the world.
Further to that...
I contest that, it doesn't meet any speedy deletion criterion. As an elite sportsperson, it passes WP:BIO. This certainly isn't A7 material, as that's a notability assertion. Would suggest AFD if anyone doesn't agree. --Michael Billington (talk) 06:10, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
I have requested the help of an expert to see if what you believe isn't speedy deletion criteria is or not but having a article for an individual referee seems a bit silly if you ask me. If we did that for all referee that would be too many articles to count. Plus the fact he has refereed 28 games isn't appear to be a reason for notability. Xtreme racer 06:25, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Werd to Billo!

It was a (Soft) push in the back that sent him over the line too. Techincally a free but not one that should always be paid but compared to that Lonergan free. Baffling. Can't believe we turned that around somehow.

Honestly, the last 8 seconds of Naitanui satiated my appetite for a while. ;) There should be more Naita toast threads than there are. :p

Thing is the way they played that rule, was almost last touch over is a free to the other side like has been done in the NAB cup before. And that was always a terrible rule. Don't need to go the soccer road of a throw in to the other side when you have last touch out.

Lucky to get away with a win tonight. Can't believe how fumbly we were and the amount of dropped chest marks.

Agree - it was terrible to watch - Darling, Hams and Lynch all dropping simple marks - Arrrgggg! The that flog called Gieschen should be taken out the back and shot. There should be a loud noise about the umpiring in tonight's game. It was an abortion!

the missed push in the back you mean - two errors in one moment

It's endemic through all ages, grades though. I have been telling our junior comp all year they are coaching the young guys umpiring all wrong and offered to go and assist with their training. I have yet to put my finger on exactly what the problem is though, I can tell you where it starts....

Just watching the game now. I know we're down 19 to 42, but I really think we're a chance. Brett Heady better play a blinder though.

Meh you were the better team most of the night and we were lucky. If it wasn't for Hawkins going down we would of lost.
