Friday Night Ladders

What I would like to see is EVERY team get 1 Home Friday night game, regardless of finishing position the year before (18 games)
The other 5 games, 4 go to the Top 4 from the year before and the last goes to the Premiers from the year before. Now with the away teams the AFL can do it like they do now with ladder position giving you more games, but this way at least everyone gets 1 Home Friday night game for exposure/gate takings etc.

With the 2 WA teams, have them start at 7:20pm their time, so the game starts 920pm Vic time, and before these 2 friday night games start, the AFL should schedule 2x under 18 carnival games on these nights, so 7 can have something going to air at this time in Vic etc. That way the WA games are starting at a silly time to get a crowd and everyone in the eastern states still have something to watch while waiting for the main matches to start.

- Carlton (6th overall) and Richmond (8th overall) highlight that a supposed big 4 favouritism isn't really true. However, Essendon (4th) has enjoyed a fair share of friday night games for a relatively mediocre side.

Completely disagree with your comment about Carlton. They've finished in the top 6 just once in that period of time and had several years where they were woeful. Plus they've undeservedly got the opening game of the year (with Richmond) on a Thursday night for many years now.

Last year they got a heap of Friday night games, despite being terrible and were generally uncompetitive in most of them. It seriously put me off watching Friday night footy because you just knew it wasn't going to be a good game.

The only reason they got so many Friday night games in the first place was because they were Carlton.
