Would never post this on the main board, so cut me some slack Tiger brothers..... but struck me while watching the Geelong v Collingwood game; and anticipating the Richmond v Essendon game...

the standard of Geelong/Collingwood was ordinary..neither side will reach the heights they have again
the standard of Ess v Richmond may well be extraordinary..both sides may reach a new level....

I predict this weekend represents a changing of the guard from the dominent 2 teams of the last 5 years to the dominent 2 teams of the next 5 years.

Would love this to be right about us but maybe a little early to call yet . I haven't seen us dominate much at all this year but very happy with the improvement we are all seeing.

Standards always look a little low in a real pressure game. last night's was a harder game than any we've played in this year.

I still reckon the first 3 quarters of last year's GF (between the same 2 teams) was the most intense and best football I have seen. They haven't dropped that much in 8 months.

Pendlebury took that game to a different stratosphere last night. I wouldn't have called the game ordinary by any means.

What an absolute standout gun Pendlebury is! Pity for Collingwood that Harry O and Nick bring the balance back.
And by the way, when is Stevie J going to get genuine criticism for the litany of **** ups he manages to produce? JR gets constant criticism for unrealistic marking attempts- SJ tries something unrealistic nearly every time he goes for it.

Jesus Christ. Imagine if we ever actually start winning enough to make finals.

Changing of the guard? It's round 8 and we aren't even in the 8.

Let's just try and keep a lid on it.
