Because its a PRACTICE match. These three have no hope of playing in Round one so theres no value in leaving them in the team at the expense of another player who may have a chance of playing round one and who needs a gallop.

Surprised Egan's out but I guess he'll get rotated back in next week.

Rotation boys...its all about rotation. You see all the boys are at different stages of their pre season, and this has to fit into the overal team pre season. Players like egan that have been "dropped" are simply making way for guys that need a run. all good!!!!

Holland is on a delayed preseason as he can't play seniors until round 7 due to suspension.

Good to see Egan dropped, I rate him but he needs a kick in the pants sometimes.

Anyway, how many will play. Last year against the Roos we had a 6-8 man bench for memory...probably only a 6-man. That means...5 cut from the 29-man squad.

We'll get a stronger indication of what Collingwood could muster up this season. The return of Swan, Buckley, Fraser and Clement, who are in the best 22, along with Presti, O'Bree and Lockyer. We should expect a more competitive effort from the lads I believe, despite it being a practice match, and winning should be on the agenda to kick-start a new football year.

I wouldn't say anyone way dropped.

The kids like Clarke, Reid etc will not be playing because they are a fair way off senior football and some players need to make way for the kids. Most of the players mentioned are atleast some chance of playing in the first 5 or 6 rounds and need game time . There is only a few weeks left where the senior can get game time.

Egan would have been rested because he has played 1 more game than the other(all stars game) . I didnt set the world on fire last week but I am not to cocerned yet. I think he is fare more valuable with good players around him. He is a legit received and needs blokes who can win it for him. His job is to carry, run and finish. I am not always the biggest fan of receivers but in the modern game there a plenty of them.
