Meh, he's got dodgy groins anyway. Terrible kick. Sure he's hard, but surely we can develop someone from within to get in and under. Main point is we now have a gun ruck, so hopefully we can now win the clearances more often.

Lyon also took the 3 year deal Ball was offered in June off the table, so if he doesn't want to chance the PSD he will almost certainly be forced to accept a lesser contract.

St Kilda takes care of it's players.

This draft is thin after the top 20, why doesnt Ball put himself in the Nov draft and we use Pick 30??? He offered it up to Saints origionally anyway!!!

Saints have gone with a weird direction, after draft picks not players who might have helped them close the gap Wellingham who have assisted them and they decided not to take him

Sorry to post on here guys but the reality is you needed Ball more then we needed pick 25, if Seaby and Mumford are worth 22 and 28 then Ball is worth more then that (somewhere between 14-25 probably). I'm afraid you've stuffed it up in this trade deal not the Saints as you say. He may very well go in the pre season draft and the Saints get nothing but effectively thats what we were getting from Collingwood anyway a pick we might not use.

We don't 'need' ball. He would have been useful, but as far as what we need, Jolly was further up the list.

I think you need a quality clearance player to give it out to Daisy, Pendlebury, Swan, Beams etc

Why is what other clubs choose to pay for players relevant to us? If we don't think he is worth more than that, why would we pay more?

You cited an example that involved 2 ruckman, far more important and rare commodities than a slow and injured mid.

The fact is no-one was willing to pay a first rounder for Ball, I'm not even sure if anyone was willing to give up a higher second rounder for Ball than us, I doubt they were. You guys shot yourselves in the foot and have now come up with nothing, bad luck.

Ball wanted to come to us, we were never desperate to have him.

Your FOS!!!!!!!!!! We offered Pick 25 (which you origionally wanted) and pick 63. Ball wanted to come to us and thats how you guys look after your own! Well done, YOUR THE BIG LOSER OUT OF THIS because you will lose him for NOTHING now.

What would you like (picks 25,63 or ........NOTHING)...because you have nothing now. he will nominate for the PSD!

Yeh, except Ball was out of contract and was gone anyway, unlike Mumford.

What did Akermanis fetch again?

What a knobend. Spends the whole week talking up a player as "A Captain, B&F, etc..." yet sends him to the two's for most of the year and then won't facilitate a trade with us. He's screwed a player who was always about the club, first and foremost.

Well, the the wildest of wild dreams, Ball could potentially outprice himself for anyone but Collingwood in the PSD but you'd think it'd be more likely he'd go to Melbourne, which is a disgrace. He would be completely wasted there.

MM said he hasnt ruled out getting ball in the PSD, if ball nominates a massive price tag for a one year deal we could live with that i reckon, i doubt any other club would gamble on it though.
Players have previously nominated for the PSD with the intention of going to one club and no other basically making it public knowledge that going to any but their prefered club will cost the club taking a punt dearly iirc.

Maybe he can retire then return and we can rookie list him :p

What a shift for Ball. From top of the ladder to the bottom. I feel sorry for him.

I hope to god we can get him in the PSD now...and FOR FREE and stick it up Ross Lyon's ASS!

We'll take nothing because thats effectively what we're getting with those picks we wont use. Lyon made it clear he wanted a player or a pick that could be used to source a player from another club. The Saints have made there stance pretty clear all week. We haven't treated Ball badly because he's too good of a player to just give away for nothing. As much as you all say he's slow or injury prone he'd be the best inside mid at collingwood in a heart beat. By the way his last 2 years have been pretty injury free.

Essendon would pay as much for him in the PSD, and obviously have a pick ahead of us.

Time to forget about Luke Ball, and watch Sidebottom, Beams and co carry our midfield forward.

Your FOS!!! You would have got a decent kid with Pick 25!!!!

I'm not particularly happy with this whole scenario, but the fact is that we have improved our list immensely by recruiting Jolly, and we really did not need the first round pick this year.

Plus with the addition of not relenting to media pressure and trading Davis, Fraser, Brown, Reid and Dawes...we are more than fine.

B: N.Brown - Prestigiacomo - O'Brien
HB: Shaw - Reid - Maxwell
C: Didak - Swan - Thomas
HF: Davis - Cloke - Lockyer
F: Medhurst - Anthony - Fraser
RUCK: Jolly - Pendlebury - Beams
INT: Dick - Toovey - Wood - Sidebottom

Look at the players not included...Rusling, McCarthy, Goldsack, O'Bree, Cox, Corrie, L.Brown, Wellingham, Johnson, Blight, Macaffer, Dawes, Rounds, Reed, Barham, and the rookies we retain....

We have a seriously good first XXII, and our depth is brilliant.

I'd normally agree with you Fade Away but from all the reports, media and all the clubs willingness to trade this week i'd disagree. Like everything though maybe pick 25 will end up being the next Buckley I suppose we'll all find out in a few years.
Good luck to Ball though every Saint supporter loves him and wants him to stay but if he ends up at another club then I hope he does well.
Should be an interesting couple weeks.

Thanks for posting on our board Disco7....reality is Ross "pansie" Lyon and St Kilda are hypocritical losers...following your losing season, Lyon said he doesnt want any player who doesnt want to play for St Kilda - Ball said I don't want to play for you I assume because you treated him poorly - Ball says he wants to go to Collingwood and suddenly the spin starts about his exceptional abilities and 3 year contract offer - St Kilda wont help the kid and deal's not done and now this -"Saints coach Ross Lyon said the three-year contract offered to Ball was now off the table and refused to guarantee his future at Moorabbin."...i cant believe how badly St Kilda have treated Ball...When Shaw wanted to go to Sydney we helped him..Roos did the same for Jolly...so now St Kildas premiership window has closed..Collingwood, Bulldogs, Adelaide and Brisbane will all pass them next year..oh yeah Geelong too...karma will come back to bite you Disco7....I hope Ball nominates for psd and Collingwood get him but whoever does gets quality man who has been treated like sh...t by you losers!!!!!!!!!! so angry right now about saints bs and player treatment.

I like our starting 18 and who knows who we get in the draft

Essendon only have a pick ahead of us if their list is incomplete after the National Draft, but yeah, it looks very unlikely.

It's worth remembering though that Essendon "signed" Scott Camporeale when they had a later PSD pick than us. Sometimes this stuff happens... 1,000-1 odds though. :(
