No he wasn't, hence the PSD.

If he was still contracted, Port would have just kept him on their list.
Ok I am missing something here. Why didn’t Stevens nominate for the National Draft? I vaguely recall he couldn’t due to timing.

Cause Port decided to screw him over. Basically the same with Ball, he can only nominate for the ND if the Saints release him. If they don't, then he has to go to the PSD.

That would be shithouse, Tarrant is a half back flanker.

look the deal would have been shocking for you but on this point ...Tarrant is a fully fledged full back now.

Played on and beat - Fev, Johnson, Franklin .....if you did not see him play this year extremely impressive.

Tarrant also announced at the Doig (our B&F) they he was basically committing to Freo. Just FYI in case any are still tracking him.

I'm pretty sure back then you could only nominate for the PSD as an uncontracted player..

:thumbsu: Correct - I think the Stevens case actually helped push this rule forward.

If he goes ND .....do you think Ball will get to you?

He needs to show that he is committed to the Saints.

David Armitage said after the season that the reason he didn't play more games in 2009 was because he didn't work as hard as he could have. He felt he'd done enough last year and didn't go up another level.

Ball is in the same boat. Yes he only played 50% game time but Swan is one of the most benched players in the league and he racks up the stats. Each player is different.

I think that it was poor on both sides but the fault for this isn't all at Lyon's feet as most Magpie fans seem to think.

I also don't think he will be released in time for the National Draft so he will either re-sign with the Saints or go to the PSD.

Mate, you are holding onto false hope.

This is not a ROK scenario. The Swans did not revoke a contract offer from ROK, in fact, they gave him 4 years instead of 3.

Luke Ball will never play for the St Kilda Football Club ever again.

A "required and respected" player does not have contract offers rescinded. Ross Lyon has made a statement and thrown Luke to the wolves. There is no chance Luke will will stay with the Saints, on way less money than the intial 3yr offer and after desperately seeking to be traded.
Ross Lyon can talk about respecting Luke all he wants but the reality is Luke has been burnt badly.

He ain't coming back. You have lost him without zero compensation.

What would hurt Ross and co even more, is if he does nominate for the National Draft in the hope of being drafted by the Pies and he gets there. He is a very good chance of getting to pick 30 too IMO.

We need to leak to the media that the reason that we didn't trade N Brown for him (not that we ever would have), is that our medical assessment on Ball was that his groins were shot, and he would be lucky to see out his next contract.

Then we pick him up at #30.

Heh heh heh...
I think you just did that.

Medical Reveals Ball has no Groins.

Collingwood were poised with an offer which the Saint's were ready to accept but the sonagram showed that Ball actually had no groins, his legs were attached with half a dozen big red posties lacka bands.
That's when we realised that sneaky bastard Ross Lyon was pulling more than just wool.

There you go.

Some lazy journo should pick that up and run with it as it's a slow week after trade week.

Notice inserting it in quotes to add to the cred and posting the totally irrelevant link to also boost the cred.

Does anyone know if Ball can train with us leading up to the draft?

Has to get AFL permission.

If he opts for the PSD, they will give him permission to train with the Dees as it would be a certainty that they'll pick him up.

I doubt he'll train with us, given the chance that some other team could get him.
