Got this e-mail on the 17th. Only just read it today because I was interstate at a wedding. Seems the club's pretty pleased. Obviously a form letter but it's gratifying to get something.
Despite the misspelling of meagre and incorrect use of apostrophes.
Dear Michael,
Great to hear you support the club’s stance with Nick Stevens. It has been a real boost to hear the overwhelmingly positive response we’ve had to our decision.
As you have probably read or heard by now, the club was not offered an adequate trade by Collingwood after we learned via Nick’s manager on Thursday that it was the only club we could deal with. Given that, we decided to not accept the meager offer and instead let Stevens go into the pre-season draft for no return in order to make a statement that we will not be manipulated by players, their managers, or opposition clubs. Nick is one of the comp’s premier midfielders and we would have liked a return for him but given the circumstances we are happy with our decision.
There’s a full statement about the situation from Brian Cunningham on our website - http://portadelaidefc.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=display&articleid=124401
Again thanks for your support and go the Power in 2004!
