Another unelected President with no football feel or experience. You can't be President and live in Sydney
You still haven't answered my question Michael:-
So how is he 'detested by the majority of the supporter base'

Most people don’t like blokes that throw others under the bus to save their own skin.
Not a very admirable trait in a leader …

Given there are no board elections, you have to read the room. I hope you aren't sticking up for this diabolical board & do nothing President. You still haven't answered my question Michael:-

Why don't you hold a poll on the forum and see how the vote turns out. Would you vote for Priestly in a an election for President if there was another viable candidate?
He's been in the job for barely 2 months. Seriously, what are you expecting him to have done?Given there are no board elections, you have to read the room. I hope you aren't sticking up for this diabolical board & do nothing President.

Priestley's invisibility is telling. He has been on the board for years. The board needs to goHe's been in the job for barely 2 months. Seriously, what are you expecting him to have done?
I have no real opinion one way or another on him as a President. Hasn't been in the role long enough for me to know. I really don't get where you are coming from. Why the hatred? Are you blaming him for Carlton being 0-4?
I have always said forever and a day that I prefer to not have to see or hear the president of my club. I prefer them to to get on with business in the background and make my club better, not use the position as a vehicle for self promotion narcism. When I look at all the strong clubs, I reckon I would struggle to tell you who their president is, that's the way I like it.Exactly, Robert Priestly has hidden under a desk in Sydney and done nothing...oh except he sent an email, an hour before last week's game, announcing 2 more unelected corporate board appointments

Agreed. But I wouldn't mind hearing from our CEO/Future CEO thoughI have always said forever and a day that I prefer to not have to see or hear the president of my club. I dont have any reason to detest him personally, more that he just comes across as another unrelatable corpo/suit type that doesn't inspire in me much confidence that we're moving in any different sort of direction.I wonder if Robert Priestly realises he is detested by the majority of the supporter base.
Why? He transitioning into the role with Cook, he needs to share none of that info gathering with anyone external to the club IMO.Agreed. But I wouldn't mind hearing from our CEO/Future CEO though
I heard the current CEO just this week.Agreed. But I wouldn't mind hearing from our CEO/Future CEO though
Can you the name the club presidents of the last 5 premiership clubs without googling? I think you’re overestimating their importance. The CEO is more important.Priestley's invisibility is telling. He has been on the board for years. The board needs to go
It is absurd to argue that a leader should be invisible, especially in times of need. I hear from basset, koch, hood, Gowers all the time. Are you an accolyte of the current failed board? Do free and fair elections scare you?How many other Club Presidents are 'invisible' Michael.
I can hardly name any of them from the other 17 Clubs and have no idea who they are!
It is the Board and Presidents who oversee key appointments at the club. The Carlton Board has ratified the appointment of second rate managers that have produced perpetual under achievement. Can you the name the club presidents of the last 5 premiership clubs without googling? I think you’re overestimating their importance. The CEO is more important.
Correct Priestly emanates from the same sphere and appears to have no feel for the game. You have correctly identified, this is likely to perpetuate the cycle of under achievement.I dont have any reason to detest him personally, more that he just comes across as another unrelatable corpo/suit type that doesn't inspire in me much confidence that we're moving in any different sort of direction.
Could be a lovely fella behind the scenes, could well be great in the role, but I just don't know. Anyway if he doesn't bring any controversies that's a win at least.

Why don't you run a poll on this forum as to the performance of this board?
Why do you advocate for status quo of an unelected board when it has delivered 25 years of failure?

This stuff is a potentially reasonable criticism, even if I don't agree with it.It is absurd to argue that a leader should be invisible, especially in times of need. I hear from basset, koch, hood, Gowers all the time.
This stuff, not so much. Are you an accolyte of the current failed board? Do free and fair elections scare you?
