From being at the Roosters v Broncos game last night, I saw the attendance being flashed on the screen as 11,000. Most of the people there (including myself), laughed alot upon seeing that as there would be no chance that there was more than 5,000 there (admittedly it rained after half-time, but my opinion was based prior to half-time).

On the flip side, matches like the Dogs vs Souths (last night) and the Storm vs Warriors (last week) were clearly understated, with the Rabbitohs match last night supposedly having alot more than 34K whilst the Storm match was close to a packed house last week.

Why does the NRL bother recording crowd stats if they're going to fudge them? Be it either understating or blatantly overstating it, it's not doing the game any favours.

^^ What's the benefit in 'understating' crowd figures?

As for 'overstating', there was a thread on the theworldgame forum a few weeks back where Sydney FC fans were bagging the NRL for it. Apparently there were several people that went to both the league game and the midweek ACL soccer match. Their observations were that the soccer attendance was larger but the official figures told another story.

Interesting...

The crowd at Aussie Looked Pathetic!!! 5K at most!!!

On the other hand i thought the Rabbitohs V Bulldogs game had atleast 38K there.

I doubt the NRL would OVERstate the crowd as that means more tax on tickets they didn't sell. There is no chance of teams/NRL doing that. They be better off flushing money down the toilet. I admit I would have estimated around 10,000 but probably under but when it rains, most people sit on the second level of the grandstand.

Understating is another matter, it is of finanical benefit for the NRL to do so but it is also illegal and not likelt that the NRL would risk it. Crowd fudging unlikely.

As if soccer fans are in any position to bag anyone, well, maybe union. They have had two years of sub-NRL, sub-AFL, sub-S14 crowds and they think they have a say.

I thought there were less at the Rabbitohs V Bulldogs game.
Yeah sure the bottom level middle rows had people but all corners were empty as were both ends and the whole 2nd tier apart from a few here and there was also bare...

What??? Did you not see the corner packed with Bulldog fans??? That corner was pretty populated.. The otherside wasn't though (But it still did have some people).
