Our skipper, you have to be joking, there is about 15 players ahead of him.

He's a damn fine halfback playing out of position. Livingston should be our fullback. He's not the most skilful player on our list, but he always sticks to his man. - Something Thornton refuses to do..

Agree on TBird but Livo reads the play about as well as a blind man, always gets caught behind and gets beaten for speed. We just have to pray that Hartlett, Edwards or Bower can hold down FB in the future, Hartlett seems to have the size and the pace to play there in the future so fingers crossed.:thumbsu:

I still rate T-bird. He's just being played out of position. ATM Livo is our best FB. Get him in there until one of these young guys develops to free T-bird up to play HB like he should be

T-Bird is starting to slip into the AFL wilderness. He is struggling on any opponent he meets. He rarely wins decisive one on ones. The biggest disappointment and I mean BIGGEST is his poor foot disposal.

Over the past two games he has started exactly where he finsihed last year i.e. not being able to consistantly hit a target by foot over 30-35 metres. You watch how many times his passes drop short or fly wide of his team-mate. Some posters suggest he play across HB but until he can hit targets with any consistancy he will never make an attacking HBF who will hurt the opposition.

On top of this his decision making has become highly suspect under pressure. There are currently some major question marks on his ability to become one of the major backmen we all thought he might, 2 years ago. No doubt it is all a confidence thing but his poor disposal is just not good enough at this stage of his career. I can forgive certain aspects because he is young and under the pump at FB but I cannot forgive him missing targets time and again when in the clear.

New to this so bear with me!

In regards to Thornton, I think he is a half-back flanker, maybe spending some time on a wing or ruck-roving once his fitness is better. He's definitely not a natural FB, Livingston needs to step up and hold it down to allow Thornton to push up field with Whitnall.

Waite might be in a similar boat that he'd be more damaging as a half-forward flanker/midfielder but he too needs to get the fitness to a higher standard.

Thornton will never be a A-Grade Full back. Hartlett is who we should be putting there, he is Big and Mobile enough IMO and is worth waiting for. Livo must improve 10 fold this season to be considered our regular full back.

Backline as i would put it:

Saddington:Hartlett:Russell
Thornton:Whitnall:Walker/Carrazzo (Rotating off the ball)

Whitnall will be a great CHB IMO.

yeah not bad there on the backline line up, is there no spot for teague or do you think he's a bit slow?

Like the idea of walker and carrazzo rotating....nice one. Maybe have them both down there double tagging each other. (See saw defence) as they penetrate off the back. (This post sounds very lurid). Make them a team that has to be considered as a pair rather than individuals. (Ang / Silvagni)

yeah not bad, the only problem i have with carrazzo as with others is the finishing skills, but a real goer none the less............
