Picking his best team eh?
Does that mean if Prenda is playing he wil be trying to bluff any other clubs who choose to come up and spy on Friday nights proceedings in Albury?

I hope Scotland is on the fringe.

With off field issues dogging him I don't think his focus is 100% on his football, because he is a better player than his displays against the Cats and Power. I hope Russell gets a game because he's younger and quicker than Scotland and has a future.

Play the kids Denis! :thumbsu:

I think he will be picking his best team and playing them where he wants them for round 1. Then a few who are on the fringes will have a chance to pish into the team as well but more likely the 28 man squad named will be where the team is picked for round 1 of the real stuff.
Of course injuries will play a part.

I just dont think Denis is interested in any tactics to put Melb off. He just wants to see his beat team performing and see if player 23 to 26 can push up into player number 19 to 22 and get a game in round 1.

Something like that would be how I read it.

I would not be surprised if Prenda is in that best 22 come round 1. He has played quite a lot of minutes so far. I dont understand what Bannister has done wrong. He deserved an opportunity in the seniors before now.

Yeah ...of all the so-called rejects, I think Bannister should be given a go. Has the height, pace and now strength to play back pocket. Maybe he will get a go if Saddington doesn't come up. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind throwing Bower in at the deep end, as long as they don't stick him on a gorilla and risk injury.

I would like to see Russell play, but only of he is ready. He looked ok in the practice match against Port (one of the few who did) and we could reasonably expect 5-10 games from him this year. However, i'm not sure he should be in at Scotlands expense.

Form aside, Scotland is still a pretty solid footballer. My one main critisism of Scotland is that he seems to prefer to kick on his non-dominant side rather than his dominant side and turns the ball over too much.

I'd also prefer to see him start of a HFF, and then come into the midfield during a rotation.

Lacks that intensity does Scotland. Sort of meanders around and like you said runs onto his left and kicks a floater. Almost running sideways.
Have not liked some of his attacks on the ball in the pre season so far. Thought he was in for a big year this year with better fitness and a better attitude but not been impressed with him so far.
JR on the other hand is steadily improving and is the future and would like to see him given an opportunity as soon as possible.

He does have that laconic attitude does Heath, but he is still a good footballer IMO. Correct me if i'm wrong, but I believe he is in his second year of a two year contract, so he'd want to make sure he 100% on the ball this year.

Signed a new deal last year after the season finished. Its a 2 year deal. Just like Teague. Scotland has been good in his 2 years overall but I think he can step up another level and be harder and use the ball better. Be more accountable and consistent.

Agree with that Mojo. He does need to be more accountable and consistent. Still, you don't lose that sort of talent, he just needs to get his confidence back and his form will pick up.

Guys that should not be playing senior footy this year are:
1. Prenda
2. Wiggo
3. Chambo
4. Davies
5. Longmuir

Why do we keep persisting with these blokes. Im sure I will not be the only supporter amazed if these blokes consistently keep getting games

Agree with that. Only Wiggo would be a chance, purely on his courage alone.

Silly statement ...these players are our depth players and will be required to fill gaps due to injuries
