Further to the recent discussions about the Beach Boys, I felt something needed to be cleared up.

The Beach Boys, as a band, ceased to exist many years ago. It is now a marketing logo of sorts, and there is endless bickering over who can use it.

Currently there are 3 parts of the beach boys:

1. The entity that is known as 'The Beach Boys', which contains original signatory (and band member) Mike Love and a whole host of various people who have joined the band over the years. They play the hits and the hits only.

2. Alan Jardine Family and Friends (formerly known as 'Beach Boys Family and Friends' until legal action was taken recently to prevent him from using the 'Beach Boys' title). Contains band member Al Jardine, his sons, Brian Wilson's daughters, and people close to the band. Play the 'B' sides.

3. Brian Wilson and band. Contains Brian Wilson (original signatory and creator of the band). Plays his own solo music and some of his finest Beach Boys classics.

The 3 sides will never re-form. Under any circumstances. But each piece plays an important role in keeping the band's music alive.

I am just sick of people going on about the band itself, coz it no longer exists. R.I.P Carl Dean Wilson. :(

May I also point out that I am in no way a fan of, or associated with, the 'touring jukebox' portion of the band.

Touring jukebox? That sounds like me when I go walkies with my 'Nomad Jukebox' mp3 player! Tip for young players: Don't go overboard with the air vocals in a built up area. Plenty of potential additions to the Most Embarrassing Moment thread there!
