Hello everyone

On Sunday, 21st November, there will be a major fundraising event for Muscular Dystrophy Tasmania occurring in Hobart.

Craig Davis - originally from Tasmania and long-time Sydney resident - who played for Carlton, North Melbourne, Collingwood & Sydney in a career spanning 1973 to 1988 - will be pushing fellow Taswegian Lucas Peters in a specially designed wheelchair from Wrest Point Casino to the peak of Mount Wellington, a distance of 21km - pretty much all uphill - "The Big Push".

As posters here would know, Lucas suffers from Muscular Dystrophy and is also a big Melbourne fan. Christian Petracca arranged for his family to get to the recent Grand Final and Lucas was one of the first people he celebrated with following the win.

This is being done as a challenge, so there is no online fundraising page - instead you need to "pledge" an amount and then follow up payment later. You can do this by emailing Craig at - c.davis@arc.unsw.edu.au

Craig recently turned 67. He said -
"Lucas stole my heart when we met a number of years ago. They say it's the hardest half marathon course in the world but it's worth it, even if my doctor thinks I'm an idiot."

No amount pledged and donated is too small (nor, naturally) too big. I would be grateful if people here would consider contributing to this monumental effort being undertaken for a wonderful cause.

I'm posting this here because of Lucas's love for the Demons - I also hope to post details of the challenge on the main board and on the boards of the four clubs that Davo played with.

I believe that Christian Petracca planned to be there whilst Davo undertook this challenge but is now unfortunately unable to attend. I'm sure he will be there in spirit however.

Just to let everyone know that Davo today completed the challenge. He pushed Lucas Peters, in a wheelchair, from Wrest Point Casino to the peak of Mount Wellington in Hobart - a distance of 21km, uphill - to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Tasmania.

This was three years in the planning and it involved a full year's training. I'm so happy for Craig and for Lucas that it came off successfully.

It's not too late to pledge an amount and donate. You can do so by emailing Craig at - c.davis@arc.unsw.edu.au

Thanks to everyone.
