In 1984, Jack Chick, of Chick Tracts fame, warned about the dangers of Dungeons and Dragons in a comic book that, among other things, depicted players of the entirely imagination-based role-playing game casting actual spells and joining the occult.

Ah yes, the old D&D will have you killing yourself or becoming a devil worshipper phase. I remember that back in the 80's that as a young teen my parents asking me if I'm sure I should be buying any D&D.

I was in a pretty fundamentalist church back then, it was pretty full on. Even today people at church see my boardgames and get a bit freaked out.

Played Galaxy Truckers tonight, with the madcap 'assemble your ship' in a set time to trying to having bits blown off as you limp through pirates, asteroid belts and viruses, some great laughs.
