The kid is playing this week & i know his a big kid but thats about all, How does he play, what position does he play. I know he got redrafted last year so is this his last crack or will he be on your list next year.

I think he has earnt his spot. Been in good VFL form in recent weeks, so he does derserve the go! I know he is highly rated by the saints (hence the re-draftment) You would think this is a crucial game for him, as playing a solid match and contributing, will showcase his worth and potential keep. I'm not too sure how the saints hirachy feels, as if this is indeed his last chance, or he will be kept regardless.

Hopefully he can help take a key defensive role (freeing up the rebounding role to Sam Fisher)

He is a 23 yo midling height, rebounding defender. Has frequently had to play out of height and weight bracket, and has done very well. Has good speed, good hands and is a decent kick (which unfortunately is a rarity in our defence). He was injured at the same time as our defenders were all out injured - Gwilt was promoted in his stead and did a fair job, but Ferguson would have been significantly preferable had he been available.

IIRC he was a forward in the U18 All Australian team way back when. Has always been considered a prospect but has not quite set the world on fire.

His worst enemies have been injuries and the timing of said injuries - as there has been a few real opportunities for him to stand up - only to find he has copped some lengthy injury and is again unable to grab the bull by the horns.

Will he prove himself, or will it be a token appearance like they gave Brooks before the end of last year?

I am glad to see him run around for the first time in two years. His last game was the "Harvey Final" in 2005 v Adelaide.

I think he may run around a bit in the midfield as well, but he has definitely been brought in to give the defence a bit of versatility in light of Max's injury.

Personally I think it's a worrying sign when Ferguson goes into the side. Don't get me wrong, I hope he has a blinder, but you've gotta wonder a player who only gets picked 9 times in 5 years.

Yeah, I know what you're thinking there Snake but look at Gilbert's massive leap forward this year, we need give players the opportunity to show their best hand.

The saints rate him. As our mod explained, when key players have been injured, Ferguson also tends to get injured. Your right though, this is the time for him to stand up. I think if he doesnt make a solid contribution tonight, his spot on our list could be shaky. Five years is a long time, now or never really.

I don't rate fergusson at all. Would like to see him offloaded at the end of the year maybe during trade week? Not to sure who they would get for him tho

I agree, didn't look like it on Friday night. I'm not sure if clubs would offer him anything in trade, maybe a 4th round pick.

Geezzz. He goes in pretty hard doesn't he? A few times he threw himself into some packs.
