I would take pick 19 and Jed Anderson for Aish if collingwood can satisfy hawthorn with something for him as well.

Think that would make us happy as we wouldn't be going back 2 years in development with that.

If a trade were to occur it won't be a second rounder plus steak knives. The player involved would have to be the main draw card of the trade with the pick as a top up.
Honestly, if we could get Jed Anderson I probably wouldn't bother trying to get Aish. If Anderson gets right he could be very very good.

That's three pretty good picks for a player who has shown he is pretty good but by no means a future star.
I beg to differ on the future star thing. My guess his manager told him to hold back this year to aid in making it easier to get traded, his first year was excellent. Seems a very solid player to me, reminds me a little of Simon Black (i said a little).

Yeah that's what opposition supporters told us about Yeo, Docherty and Polec. They never watched these guys play until they realised they could poach them, then when they go on to live up to the potential that Lions supporters had already witnessed, said opposition supporters make up bullshit about us not developing them properly.

Yeah but two picks in the top 20 is better than what you got for Yeo, Docherty and Polec. Out of curiousity where do you rate Aish's ability in relation to those three?

I think your way to optimistic for both. At best we're getting a late second rounder for Seedsman which is a pretty meaningless pick in what is apparently a very weak draft. Not sure if we get pick 22 for Freeman either. He hasn't played for two seasons due to injury which I think affects his value a lot.

Having said that I reckon two picks in the 20's is about fair value for Aish. Apparently the draft really falls away at about pick 30. 19, 21 and 25 seems a bit much tbh. That's three pretty good picks for a player who has shown he is pretty good but by no means a future star.
Second round draft picks (2 or 3) will not get the deal done. Come back when you have something more to our liking.
In fact just use this website, type all your suggestions, comments and thoughts here and they will be dealt with accordingly.

Yep I would imagine that the pies would be happy to pick up either Aish or Anderson, but not both.....getting Anderson might prove to be easier.

Hopefully Anderson requesting a trade has made Prince James a little edgy.

Freeman and Seedsman were both players who would have been part of our planning in the next few years. Losing both of them leaves us a bit weak on the outside. I'm not that huge a fan of Aish but think we need to get him to address our deficiencies. Your probably correct to say that Anderson will be easier although I'm not sure that Hawthorn will be wanting to get rid of him that easily.

For me:

Yeo is the pick. Played from the time we picked him onwards but has started to take on a hulking Fyfe-like quality this year. Versatile, quick. Mid, defense, kick goals. Still gutted.

Aish next on pure footy smarts and I can't see him not getting somewhere close to his potential.

Polec has more upside than maybe the lot - freaky skills and pace - but doesn't seem to be able to sustain effort and focus with his body.

Docherty less likely to be boom or bust. No glaring deficiencies. No game changing abilities.

What you reckon doesn't really matter. It's what Brisbane think is "fair value" for Aish. Matthews has made it fairly clear that two picks in the 20's is not good enough to entertain a win/win trade for Aish. Under that scenario, the Lions lose.

I haven't seen enough of Yeo to make a fair judgment but I have seen a bit of Polec and Aish and I think there Polec as a fair bit on him tbh. Aish is closer to a midfield version of Docherty imo in that he is very solid but he doesn't have exceptional ability to break lines and hit a target that top level outside mids possess. Polec could easily become a top level outside mid imo.

I missed have missed that Mathews quote, have you got a link?

Also losing isn't a set value. Losing but getting two picks in the 20s as compensation is a hell of a lot better than losing and getting nothing.

Go to 3aw's site and listen to the interview.

"The concept of trading is everyone wins.......trading your young players is you can't win."

Also losing isn't a set value. Losing but getting two picks in the 20s as compensation is a hell of a lot better than losing and getting nothing.
That's your opinion. It's not one shared by Leigh Matthews.

If someone asks Schwab or Swann about taking Aish with ~pick 20 in the ND or pick 2 in the PSD, hope the response is along the lines of 'we'll take the talent best available to us at that pick, if that's Aish, then so be it'. I need more education from Collingwood supporters about restraint of trade before I can qualify as a BF lawyer.

What players in terms of quality mature on our list just curious thanks
I haven't bothered to even look. I am just saying that with what Leigh had to say about us going backwards if we keep having to develop draft picks. A mature player might start a conversation. That player doesn't have to be from Collingwood.
