Its tough but Northern clubs also get the benefit of selecting from academies which we dont. It all evens out in the end.

It will just happen in future that clubs will stop picking interstate players with such high draft picks in the fear of them wanting to go home.
Yup; we'll really flourish then won't we?

I don't think cevap is being a pest or stirring us up about this or anything but this is just an example of the absolute naivety that opposition supporters possess
regarding where we sit in the landscape of the league.

Opposition CLUBS however know how tough it is and that is why we (and GC) are targeted.

Just letting you know all the BigFooty "experts, I know a guy who said this, I know people within the club" have started a post with schace already excepting a deal from Carlton 700k 5 year deal.

Just let you know haha
God I hope not. Our priority is/ should be midfielders, not overpaid forwards with only potential to their games atm. I was of the understanding Richmond are leading the race for him.

Would appear our friend Cevap believes everything he reads in the HUN whether it be Jay Clark trade speculation or anti-academy scaremongering.

No one reads the Hun.....It worked out its demographics...That's why it's a pictorial....those who don't understand what they are viewing can tune into "radio for the print handicapped" and have it translated.

Rance was Tigers or nothing from what we know
Leppa tried getting Astbury up but I believe failed his medical

You're right. Wouldn't be how it gets sold though
Instead it's "every success is glorified"
Also failed , due to the fact our plans are about bringing in talent ,not second raters.

You want players that will contribute to a Premiership, not all of them have to be A Graders

Unfortunately, with all the great kids you've been able to pick up recently, other clubs will target them. If it's not Schache it'll just be someone else
Only thing your club can do is sign them

i think we are jumping at shadows here, it is merely a MSM generated perception that we are leaking top end talent IMO. since the go home 5 we have barely lost any young players, in fact considering the unpopularity of our previous coach and our performances on the field since the GH5 we have done remarkably well with retention of draftees.
Well said

Unfortunately u r correct ,he is not an a grader ,nor is he anything else for that matter. The lions don't need to go to the $2.00 shop.

I agree with Elixuh. If you're drafting with a view to what you'll get in two years time, just fold the club. We're never going to be off the bottom of the ladder if that's the accepted situation.
Compelled to respond. Agree 100%. With top end talent,we can start winning and coupled with off field changes ,players perceptions about the club ,can change very quickly ,leading to ,I would suggest, most of them actually wanting to stay ,as they see a club on the rise and gaining momentum towards the holy grail.i am really upbeat, the sleeping Lion is finally coming out of a deep sleep. schache can be apart of something special and I believe that will Be a major influence in his decision. No doubt, his dad is looking down from heaven, will be extremely proud of his son's character.

Dunno why you're bothering to start anything with me. I'm just here to chat, I've always been respectful on your board. Feel free to check my history

If they're on the way up I'm sure you'll be very happy. Not my place to discuss that on your board and I don't know enough to offer an informed opinion

Thank you for giving me a laugh with your comments
When do you think the time will be when both QLD AFL clubs (there should only be 1 by the way) will no longer need to recruit interstate players in the draft? I am a Queenslander however spent more than 20 years living in Melbourne before moving back. I cannot EVER see QLD clubs ever being self sufficient with a team list of Queenslanders only. EVER! Comments like that just show how out of touch Victorians like yourself are with how interstate clubs struggle when AFL is not anywhere near the number 1 game.
