Monster contract to Hawks imo. Mitchell, Lewis this year and now Gibson, hodge, Burgoyne gone next year plenty of cap space. Strong fit with Mitchell, O'meara. Buddy type deal that Freo just can't match.

We can match it. We haven't wasted 500k on Vickery.

Mitchell Lewis --> Pavlich this year
Gibson, Hodge, Burgoyne --> Johnson, Dawson, Ballantyne (maybe this year), Mundy, Sandilands though I hope the latter are continuing.

Looks like Hawthorn are cleaning up their bad press. Getting rid of the ones that get too much negative attention for their dirty sniping ways and all the other things off the field that attracts negative publicity. No worries though, if mitchell thought the booing he copped at freo games was bad, just wait for it when he's an eagle. I'm expecting it to be exceptional stuff.

Understandable every consumer in WA will be wearing one by 2018
Agreed

They'll be selling at a discount as F7 becomes redundant when Fyfe is at a new club with a new number

Ahhhh taking the savvy Collingwood debuild route. Me rikey. Can write them off for the next 10 years ;)

Nahhhhh... Look at Hawthorn's list without S. Mitchell, Lewis, Burgoyne, Hodge and Gibson. Could also add Roughead. Then look at our list (we still have our first rounder this year and next) and compare where each team will be in 2018. I think ours has a lot more talent and if we can make Perth Stadium a fortress, that's 9 wins a year and puts us in a strong position for finals, especially home finals. Teams hate travelling to Perth.
West coast need to hold their end up too

I hardly think Clarkson, who's notorious for king-hitting a bloke from behind in an exhibition match, getting the bloke stretchered off with a smashed jaw and refusing to this day to apologize, is too worried about the dirty sniping ways he inculcates in his team.

I don't know if these rumours are true or not, but they won't go away.
So far we have:

Fyfe toured some Melbourne clubs when he was here recently (Brownlow maybe?) and Carlton supposedly impressed him.

Some reliable Carlton posters mentioned a few months back that SOS was gearing up for a big free agent deal at the end of next year. Fyfe was the obvious name to fit that bill.

Gibbs unexpected trade request has thrown a spanner in the works and left a gaping hole in a thin midfield and could give legs to a decision to speed up the process and trade for him this year instead of waiting for him to be a RFA.

Latest talk is that SOS is trying to push for #13 and next year's 1st from Adelaide (most likely have to be a 2nd back from us to them) and then using those picks to get Fyfe. So effectively for us, it would be a straight swap of Gibbs for Fyfe, with maybe a later pick/player thrown in.

If Freo have concerns that Fyfe might be looking to leave after next year, and they know they won't be in a position to match any offers, they may be willing to get what they can for him now and hit the draft with some high picks and get some good mids.

IF a trade was to happen, would #13, Crows 2017 1st get it done? Or would a player like Boekhorst need to be thrown in as well?

Not to be rude to you, next year first round pick plus withering , jamie cripps might just trigger freo to think about it.

Cripps, 5 & 13 would be close

Seriously.... Not even close.

We could get three top 10 picks from the Suns if we wanted.

How about Cripps, Pick 5 and 13.

AFL site reporting that Hawthorn moving on Mitchell/Lewis isn't about making room for this years trades and is instead to create a war chest to lure Fyfe/Martin next year.

Edit: Not saying I think this will happen or concerned about it. Just posting as I thought it belonged in this thread. :)

Take no notice. They were just quoting what Matthew Lloyd was saying on Trade Radio. Unfortunately Lloydy has contracted McAvanitis and can only see Brown and Gold these days.

Both were only contracted for 2017, so I'm struggling to see the connection to their 2018 salary cap that a Free Agent aquired at the end of 2017 would impact.

It's Dustin Martin to Carlton btw.

Don't see it.. their cap bursting at the seams before Mitchell left. Lewis no certainty to leave yet either. Then add new Mitchell and Omeara. They'd have to move on Hodge and Burgoyne next year too to fit him in and other teams would still have more cash free
