Restricted free agents have the right to move to a club of their choice, subject to the current club’s right of first refusal over their services. That is, if the current club can ‘match’ the offer from a suitor club, the player must stay or enter the draft. The tabled offer includes only football payments and Additional Service Agreements (ASA) amounts.

Carlton
1st + Cripps + SPS.

The whole point of free agency is that you can throw money at a player and not have to part with players/picks like we did for Trent Croad. Collingwood know that they're paying overs in $ for Mayne, but the fact they parted with nothing to get him makes it a good deal in their opinion.

If a team wants to have a fair dinkum crack at Fyfe they'll have back loaded other deals so they can front load a deal for Fyfe which we'll struggle to match.

Off to the saints . Dockers to finish bottom 5 and will receive a compo pick straight after . Bid won't be matched and off he walks to the money . Simples

Turn it up. Not even saints supporters think that.

Most think he stays at freo

The only way he walks is if he thinks Freo don't have a realistic shot at a flag and that he can make great coin somewhere that looks a better chance of a premiership.

Nothing against the Saints, but I don't see them as having a better chance at a flag than us in the time frame Fyfe's likely to play. I see Carlton the same way.

If Freo match the deal he is a contracted Freo player. If you go restricted you know that you stay at the club if they match the terms. There is no sign and end up in the draft option. It is accept a deal and that club or your current club.

As long as there is an offer in front of him as soon as another club offers him a deal we can match.
That's not how it works. A free agent isn't forced to stay if the club matches the bid.

From the same link:

"An offer to a restricted free agent may be matched by his club, which has right of first refusal over his services. If the unrestricted free agent does not wish to remain with his original club, he must enter the draft or seek a trade."

Being captain has to indicate his commitment, there is no way the players would vote in someone with an inkling that he was looking to leave. Happy days.
