3 MRP findings from our game:

Fyfe Cleared of contact on Mackie- no other option
Stevie J cleared kick on Neale - Force below for a report
Varcoe & Suban jumper punches - not enough force

Atleast, 1/3 now... was expecting Fyfe to get done then the MRP smuggly try to justify it :|

How does Roughhead get a week, and Stevie gets off for insufficient force?

How did Fyfe get weeks last year fro a softer kick than Johnsons? He's lucky he kicked a Docker or he would have been rubbed out for weeks.

Geelong! Still being carried by the AFL

Not fussed about Johnson, really confused about Varcoe though.

This is the time of year when a player putting a little extra on contact can end seasons so I respect those who don't show signs but there will come a time when the coach will instruct the team to go down and stay down when they get punched so that the offender gets a break during finals.

That will be a shame.

Me too. No free kick given at all for Suban who was hammered twice... from the vision I got, it did not look like a jumper punch.

Varcoe got Suban with an absolute beauty of a jumper punch, rattled him a bit haha

I'm one who thought Varcoe should go.

No way for Fyfe or SJ.

Because tripping with the leg is and always has been viewed differently to other offences. Theoretically, any trip that actually causes a player to fall is of sufficient force to constitute an actual trip. An action with no obvious injury or physical result like a kick to the head is different in assessing force used.

To be fair, Fyfe could have gotten 1 week for "front on high contact" too, you never know with the chock lotto.
Everyone is just lucky it's "get out of jail week".

Right decision on Johnson I think. Fyfe was just so unlucky he got done last year for less of a kick. Just complete incompetence and inconsistency.

Not sure I agree. The potential involved in that action was worth a week to act as a deterrent. Even a week for the massive level of stupid but I'm peeved at the double standards that are constantly on display by the AFL. They do look after their favourites don't they?

Roughie got a reprimand but because he had 64 carryover points and that took it up to a week. Even with an early plea it stays a week. Johnson is an absolute joke of a decision and he should have got weeks.

Well, I'm not surprised because my feeling was that the MRP wont cite anybody right now unless it's black and white in the rule book - they are spooked and nervous after conducting themselves in such a farcical way that they don't know what to do now.

FWIW:

Fyfe - lucky according to the rules as they stand.
Johnson - it was pretty light, insufficiency force is an out for them, but the act should be taken out of the game and I'd like that cited with at least a fine/repremand.

and the big one:

Varcoe - now that is a terrible non-call. Proof the MRP are just going head in the sand as much as they can. A few weeks ago Balla got done for about the same force in the guts, but a similar whack to the head ... no case to answer, paleeeease .

They've gone from penalising players for legitimate plays (Fyfe's bump) to letting cheep shot punches etc. go. It's a joke and the AFL better sort it out properly or it's only going to get worse. We're going to have a very ugly 70's-80's style sniper feast game on our hands if they don't start tidying this up.

MRP are genuinely clueless at this stage. They've put too much focus on technicalities such as penalising Fyfe, Taylor Hunt etc and then realised nobody wants to see players being rubbed out for accidents and so now they're trying to even it up by letting go of cheap shots to try and preserve this image that the AFL is still "tough".

They have no ****ing clue. As a result, we have this inconsistent rubbish week in and week out, where the panel themselves don't even know what they're doing anymore. It has been a terrible year for them.

Roughy won't get off, ran past contest threw out his leg and tripped the player with the ball.

Its black and white his gone, put your house on it.
