Interesting discussion last night regarding On The Coach.

Roos has come up that Fyfe only runs one way, every coach is definetely aware it and plan for it in their tactics.

Thoughts and what does it mean for him regarding his reputation and output / responsibility as a Captain?

He doesn't get dirty the other way - unless he wants to - post tussle

Well - I don't think there's anybody on this board who'd be capable of going head-to-head with Roos when it came to tactics and player observations. With that being said, it's a damning claim he's made. But, there's other examples in almost every club of midfielders who are more offensive rather than defensive - I guess, in Fyfe's case, since he has won a Brownlow and is the #1 midfielder at Freo, there's probably a lot more work done in studying his game, so any deficiencies present would be more highlighted and therefore more useful for media comment than a player less well known.

You just knew it would be a West Coast fan.

And Roos didn't "come up" with it, Mick Malthouse has been beating this drum for a couple of weeks now and it was just as silly when he said it.
Ironic that Priddis is done posted it as his inability to defend held wc back for years

Wow didn’t think a Bigfooty user could have that kind of impact on a club.

Dusty is the same. I’m sure Ablett and Dangerfield aren’t very two way either.

Yet they are good at what they do
This.

Theres probably a bunch of top line mids who run a hell of a lot harder offensively than defensively. This isnt new, and people are naive if they are only picking up on it now.

A few years back, Freo played Adelaide in Adelaide. It was a brilliant game because Fyfe matched up on Danger and both had massive games, both nearly entirely offensively, and it was great to watch.

Yes, he doesn't defend as much as others but i guess the theory or plan os to maximise his offensive output.

Don't know whether it's justified criticism or not, but sort of feels like something the Vic dominant footy media are more comfortable saying about a non-Vic player.

Whether it is solely limited to non-vics or not there is definitely a certain level of cowardice involved in who the 'boys club' national afl media dare to criticise with massive statements like that.

actually it was the Vic media and several times

TBH from 2004-2007 west coast clearance setup was almost entirely designed around Judd being used purely in an offensive fashion with Rowan Jones and others to a lesser extent sacrificing their games so that Judd could impact and get away from the clearance causing maximum damage. Also why you very rarely saw Judd, Cousins and Kerr in the centre bounces together. If Judd and Cousins were in there, there would be a defensive focussed mid to cover the other way and lay blocks and shepherds.

not really relevant as this is not what Fyfe is being accused of

In Melbourne its been widely suggested Roos was doing a favour for his good mate Rossy.
