Fyfe retires

AFL 360 hasn’t even mentioned Nat Fyfe’s retirement 17 minutes into the show. One of the modern greats retires and instead the leading story is a Brisbane player touching a Sydney’s players bum.

Is it prerecorded? Anyway, who cares what they think.

No doubt they will get him on sometime.

Putting the key forwards to the side, peak Fyfe is the best player I have ever seen. Better than Bont, Voss, Buckley, Ablett, Dangerfield, Judd, etc. It's just that injuries cut him down and he couldn't do it for a long period of time so those guys will be given a higher stature overall.

Freo's best ever player imo. Pav is still our greatest, but Fyfe at his best was the best we've ever had.

And that 2015 season will probably forever remain the greatest season we'll ever see from a Freo player. He was on a different level to the rest of the competition, it was like watching a man playing in a colts comp.

Sad news even though we knew it was probably coming. I love the timing of the announcement though, right before an absolutely crucial game against the reigning premiers to decide our season. If this doesn't get the boys up we have no heart.

Could not agree more . Suspected this may be happening with the jumper swap with Boak. Very sad day indeed

Absolute champion, deserved every accolade he received plus more. One of the best to ever do it. Plenty of Fyfe memories, I have one that I'll never forget, Richmond were flying during the flag era, prime Dusty running around. Richmond flogged Freo by about 10 goals at the G , but Fyfe. Fyfe put in arguably one of the best individual performances I've ever seen live. Got the 3 votes, but deserved 6. I rekon it was 2018/2019.
Thanks Fyfey

Absolute legend!!!

His start to 2015 was probably the most dominant run of games by an individual I've ever seen.

I made this vid of highlights from rounds 1-7 and always meant to add the highlights from the rest of the season but sometimes life gets in the way...

Plus he won the brownlow and the media made their own (better) highlight packages

Gimme the Fyfe please explain yourself? You're either omnipresent or gots some real good goss

Not at all. It was just instinct and some reasoning.

I couldn't see another full season of him fighting for a spot with the likes of Youngey and Murph coming up. It wouldn't seem right for the club to hold back the talent and Nat strikes me as too selfless.

Regarding the timing - it seemed ideal to make the announcement today considering the importance of the match on Friday to call upon the faithful to get out there and give him a good farewell.

"Deserve" is a word that's often employed in a very silly fashion when it comes to sport, but bloody hell the exception is justified here. We need to go hard and go far from here on in.

Everyone obviously talks about the Danger game in the rain in Adelaide, but that entire run in 2015 might be the the most singularly perfect string of individual performances I reckon I've ever seen.

Running back out with a broken leg to try and haul us over the line v Clarkson's Hawks.

Those insane, multiple-effort goals against Port and Geelong. Watching baby Fyfe flying in from offscreen on a very small TV in my first house in Kalgoorlie when I couldn't afford to regularly get back for games.

I'll even throw in handballing rings around the Dogs midfielders on one leg last year, just to prove he could still do it.

Not sure I'll be quite ready for the level of emotion on Friday.

Don't worry about those two arseholes, the little Geelong supporting gecko Whateley and yap guts Lyon, belting the back out of his mates missus.

Lets just win Friday first up.
