This year will be a first in Brisbane.

Suncorp Stadium (aka Lang Park) the traditional home of Rugby League and the former host for International Rugby Union games is going to be redeveloped.

ANZ Stadium (aka QEII) the home of the Brisbane Broncos Rugby Legue team is hosting the Goodwill Games in 2001.

The Lions will play Hawthorn on the Friday night, followed by the Wallabies and the British Lions on the Saturday night, and the
Queensland-NSW State of Origin League match on the Sunday night.

I am pretty sure that only good things can come out of this for the support of AFL within Brisbane. The other two stadiums are primitive compared to the Gabba, from facilities to sight-lines. I think people that visit there for the first time will actually come back to see what AFL is all about after they see the standard of the stadium.

My only concern tho is how much wear the ground will receive, can anyone tell me how the 'G' holds up when other/extra games are played there?

The g is fine after heaps of footy and stuff. The gabba shouldnt be much of a problem.
