If no evidence, why the charge?

Yes he was charged with murder, although earlier in the thread Purlin or one of the other pseudonyms stated that he wasn't. I don't know why he was charged with murder - a lesser charge may have seen him convicted.

Purlin's comment about trumped up charges are reasonable then?

Just because someone isn't found guilty doesn't mean he didn't do it or there's no case. Obviously the police thought they could have him convicted so went with it. It's their job.

Police knowing they could have someone convicted isn't the best argument, as history shows.
You've already said you don't know why he was charged with murder.
Wasn't commenting on whether he did it or not.

You asked me why he was charged if there was no evidence. There was obviously evidence that he MAY have committed the crime. They thought they had the evidence for a conviction but obviously their evidence wasn't evidence that he actually committed the crime. What more can I say.

No charges were merited at all.
Tostee did nothing wrong at all.
The fact that the DPP ever trumped up these charges is a dangerous indictment of the stupidity of the fools we employ to supposedly uphold justice.
Let this be a lesson to all - never speak to Police, get lawyered up, and record everything. He'd definitely be in jail now under wrongful imprisonment without the recording he took.

As stated earlier. People do not realise how easy it would be for them or their son to end up in the same situation as Tostee. There is a view of him being the Gold Coast high rise playboy. Someones average son with middle of the road success with women could easily end up with a BPD girl in their hotel room on a holiday who goes nuts and they not know how to handle the situation. Push her outside the nearest door for a few seconds to retain some composure then within 10 seconds she has scaled a balcony and fell.

Tostee is not a desirable character by any means but he found himself in a very unlucky situation. On top of that the police seemingly had a grudge against him and the media went out of their way to ruin his life for clicks.

It is good to see him say most people that have approached him in person so far have expressed their disgust at the witch hunt against him.

Unlucky? He was seeking out vacuous airheads to root from the beginning. Then when the airhead in question carried on like a poor chop he should have simply escorted her to the front door.

I didn't like much about the bloke from what I heard on the recordings. Seems to me to be the generic narcissistic fluff head tool that is all too disturbingly frequent amongst young blokes these days. A complete w***er, if you like.

That being said he was acquitted so not sure how this ends up as news.
