STATE of Origin II attracted an average of 2.47 million viewers last night.
The massive audience was just below the record figure of 2.51 million for the first State of Origin game last month in Melbourne. Nine claimed the figure was a record for the second match.
Peaking at 2.82 million, the match between NSW and Queensland - won 16-12 by the Blues - was the number one program of the night across all key demographics - 25-54, 18-49, 16-39 - as well as in total people. It included 366,000 viewers in Melbourne.
The post-match and pre-match segments came second and third in the rankings for Wednesday night, giving Nine a winning network share of 41.8 per cent, according to OzTAM overnight rankings.
