Someone posted about putting an over limit on the first innings. Agree. Vics took 130 overs to score 351 while the Blues against SAussie currently moving along at a snails pace 1-213 from 88 overs. Dan Hughes 89 off 268. That is about 30 strike rate and on a deck that is not all that challenging.

Nah. That's pretty stupid.

So why is it silly?OR bring back bonus points for 1st innings scores.OR curators do something about the roads prepared at the Junction oval, Hobart etc.We want results, attacking cricket especially in the 1st innings of both sides.I think this will be 3 played for Victoria for 3 draws.

Because if you aren't good enough to roll a team, you aren't good enough. Period.

Don't need to manufacture results that way. Game 1 there was plenty of juice in the deck early which means it's going to struggle to get spin late. Game 2 there was spin on offer but unfortunately the pitch didn't break down quickly enough, mostly because of the weather leading in meant they couldn't dry it out enough, this game the deck was just bad. Was very slow without much movement which made it hard for all involved.

If they keep producing roads and games keep ending in draws, it's something to consider IMO.

All of these draws do nothing for the game.

The Sheffield Shield competition is in desperate need for aggressive and imaginative captains who are prepared to break a few eggs in order to make an omelet. Too many captains are prepared to bat the opposition out of the game and then wait for the opposition to make all the running. No need for compulsory declarations, if you have 2 captains prepared to take a few risks, you have game on.

Classic case in point, the current NSW v SA game. Rain effected 1st day, here we are at Tea on the 2nd day, and NSW are still plodding along at less than 3 runs an over. Sheffield Shield used to be my favourite cricket format, but it's becoming as boring as bat droppings.

It shouldn't and won't happen.

As far as "doing nothing for the game", that's patently not true. Not every deck needs to be a green top or raging turner.

I can see what they were doing in the two first pitches. Game 1 was a little shy of ideal seaming conditions and game 2 probably needed another days play on it to really break down properly.

Our Test boys should be playing these few matches and on challenging decks to prepare them for a sh*t hard next 9 months of Test cricket. But what are they doing, most are smashing balls and bowling freebies in T20. If they were not going to play Steve Smith why the hell wasnt he released to play for the Blues.
Yup agreed

Annoys me that Inglis ...even though he has been injured last week....is just a bench warmer...should be playing for WA

Green Smith on the bench doing sweet FA
