Haven't seen a thread dedicated to this, so thought I might start one.

My local in Pakenham Victoria looks to be wrapping up due to poor numbers attending (lately 4 or 5 gamers only) and they cannot afford the insurance and rent on the space we use in the local community center.

There are many reasons why the club is in this state. The guy running it isnt really approachable to playing other games (sticks to Warmachine only). They dont branch out in board games or promote apart from their FB page and hardly run events.

But doing a quick internet scan, can't find many gaming clubs operating outside of House of War in Ringwood which isn't a club. Is it a dying a breed? Share your clubs and where they are.

Would love to join a new one thats open to different games. I play Guild Ball.

I head out and play at Group North Historical Wargames Society, at Edinburgh just south of the RAAF base. I don't think they have a lot of members right now, there's been s slow decline, but the place has been around for 50 years I'm told. They own their own building, an old community/dance hall, and despite the name they play all manner of games - I head out and play Kings of War, but there's also 40k, Bolt Action, Saga, all kinds of historical games, and most people seem up for trying anything, there's certainly the table space for it. Pretty welcoming place. They have big game Sundays too, where they multiplayer and the entire army for both sides is provided by the club and the older members, you just show up and take command of a section.

If I lived closer I'd probably apply to be a member.

Harlequin Halls is the nearest club to me, maybe 10 minutes drive away. When I first looked they mostly played 40k and Warmahordes, but when I researched again recently all I can see them talking about is Guildball. They seem to have become affiliated with the new nearby game store, but still use the same church hall in Blackwood to play in.

IN Brisbane there is the League of Extraordinary Gamers - http://lxgbrisbane.com

Big boardgamers club - not sure how much minatures they play.

The League of Extraordinary Gamers (LXG) was established as a family friendly tabletop games association in 2004, with its main aims being to provide a venue for its members to play games and to promote an interest in all genres of games to the wider community.
The club was originally based at the Chandler Sports Complex and then Cavendish Road State High. Recently LXG moved to the Queensland Contract Bridge Club at Woolloongabba, which offers a larger (and air-conditioned) venue.
The club meets once per month, all day on a Sunday. At these meetings people play social games or compete in organised tournaments. It’s a great, friendly atmosphere and you will easily find someone who wants to invite you to play a game.

In Melbourne there are a number of groups on meetup, but mostly they are boardgaming focussed, not straight wargaming/miniatures.

I help run a straight boardgaming group in Spotswood, bit far for you I"m afraid.

I've heard good things about this app - https://iamgamefor.com/
Hmm nothing in Melbourne

In the western suburbs of Melbourne there is the Western Suburbs wargaming society for miniatures.

Ive been a member off and on since 1992, they play everything from historicals - WW2 6mm, 15mm, Command & colours Napolenic, ancients, etc, fantasy - Warhammer 40k. Relaxed group of gamers with loads of games being played.

It has been confirmed that due to poor numbers and increase in rent cost for the space we play in at Toomuc Community Center, June will be the last month of operation.

Now the few of us that Play Guild Ball will be looking for somewhere else to play. Thanks jazzee for the link. It seems that clubs out this way (south East Melbourne) are a dying breed.

Yep

Many I know see it (Table top gaming) as a kid thing and as adults, should be growing out of it. But for me it's a way to socialise with others in ways that don't involve going to pubs and clubs and drinking.

I was one of only 3 that went who had kids and (the other two would bring there kids too) and they went and played in the courtyard that was available to us to use.

Can't find many kid friendly spaces and I particularly don't want to bring mine to random people's houses or hold game meets at places Like House of War (I wouldn't trust my kids in a busy game shop) or a Croc's/Lollipops

Hey, always welcome. Prefer if you click attending our venue has been a bit annoying of late so we need to know how many tables..... also if you're a bit late but we know you're coming can hold a spot in a game for you. Usually 3 to 5 games with ten to twenty folk.

Some people bring games, others don't and play other peoples games. It's pretty friendly :)

Axes and Ales in Preston, every Thursday night.

Hosted at The Tallboy and Moose, which is a micro brewery, which has great variety of beers.

They have a Facebook page and I can't recommend highly enough. They play pretty much everything.

My mates go down pretty regularly to play a Blood Bowl league we started.
