Is that really a late goal? Sure Shorten isn't wrong, but that has next to no bearing on the result, people don't listen to politicians they listen to headlines, soundbites and small clips. I don't think there is much scoring power there probably a behind.

Ballsy taking on Murdoch press directly. Blair or Rudd wouldn’t go there (not until after retiring anyway)

Probably reflects a declining influence of News Corp, I don’t know anyone regardless of voting intentions that doesn’t see them as partisan, subsequently that erodes trust.

Interesting that they’ve delivered free newspapers and removed articles from the paywall for the election.

Good to see that the Victorian Liberals have learnt their lesson from the state election and won't again launch political attacks on Safe Schools and LGBT people.

Just kidding.

'Well, glad that embarrassment is behind us.'

Alex Hawke: WE NEED TO KEEP DIGGING!

Mr Hawke, the Special Minister of State, has doubled down on the sentiments, declaring "Gladys Liu is right" and criticising the Safe Schools program.

In a Facebook post that has subsequently been run as a paid advertisement on the social media platform, Mr Hawke said the "program was written by an actual communist & involved forcing radical gender-based theory on kids, even in primary school".

Queensland/The Liberals possibly sending us another one of their best

Helping families send three-year-olds to pre-school is a Labor Party conspiracy to strengthen government control over child raising, a Coalition candidate claims.

Queensland Senate hopeful Gerard Rennick has also advocated for a radical overhaul of company taxes and cast doubt over Russia's involvement in a deadly chemical attack in Britain...

The candidate last year reportedly advocated for Australia to consider developing missiles to deter any attack from China.

"Projectiles are the answer to our defence, not mano a mano, because we're outnumbered by China," Mr Rennick was quoted saying in The Australian newspaper.

Yesterday he slammed the reporting of his comments about China and weapons: "That was completely taken out of context."

In that interview last October, he was also quoted advocating for closer ties with Russia: "They're part of the West; they drink, they're Christians, they play soccer, they're Caucasian."

Close the thread, this is over.

Fair play to Patricia Karvelas - I gave her shit yesterday for reading a text straight from Barnaby Joyce on Insiders without the chance to question him. But tonight she got him on RN Drive, and... ooooh boy.

This was ******* unhinged. I have no other words to describe it, but I've never heard anything like it from a senior government politician. There's a chance he may not have been sober...

Reset the score, the LNP are playing with an extra 6 blokes on the field with Barnaby Joyce speaking for them.

(RN Drive is available through your podcast provider if you're interested.)

Barnaby starts the interview yelling like a village drunk and doesn't relent.
The petulant, deliberate "LABOR LABOR LABOR!" strikes me as a piss-take, especially with the constant allusions to being "a humble backbencher."

We know that backbenchers are under instruction to talk down Labor as much as possible, but this makes me think that Joyce has the shits with that directive, or maybe feels disrespected by the current administration telling him what he is and isn't allowed to say.

I know that Joyce is a campaigner, but this was ******* deranged.
