have to agree, as much as we all want him delisted he actually played well. Jake King was good but as usuall missed 3-4 targets un like White today.
Well mate, King does miss a few targets, It's a part of his game, no ones perfect. He brings a tough hard game into the club, he is one of those players that gives his 100% and does his best. And, he is not the only one that misses targets, even the best of best players miss targets.

On another note, I have liked his tagging jobs he has been doing.

Yes he has been good and he always gives his all. But he will be one of the first moved from the 22 back to coburg when someone has good form. Especially next year when we get even more youth.

Have you even watched his last 4 games? Amongsed the best in those. His shut down jobs have been superb on Davey, Pierce, Rodan and yesterday Hurn. And they just aren’t negative shut downs either, he is getting contested possessions and better numbers than his opponent. Yesterday, 14 Hurn, 17 King. And his eff% has also risen this year. And after the two back to back suspensions, he has quit the angry aggressive want to kill everyone attitude and has re invented himself.

Atm, he is definitely on track for a contract extension and not the automatic delist as everyone wants.

Very true Bazzar, his job on Hurn was good from what I seen and his jobs in the past have been good, No reason why not to keep him If he is performing like this.

Will King take us to the future? No.

He's been fine, but he's a limited player and we're better off with the extra draft pick. Let me ask you, who would you rather - Nason or King?

I'm not saying he hasnt played well, He does not fit the bill of a rebuilding side, thats the end of it, He is only in there as a big body to set the example of how hard you need to go for the ball. His form right now is just a bonus. And when someone better comes along then he will be out.

Im still trying to work out what this overused saying actually means. Atm King IS helping take us to the future. Every club in the history of the game has players from the top - elite, to quality hard working work hoarses. He is only 26 and If he keeps this standard up and “earns” his spot, he will be perfect while our next young tier (next year’s draftees) develop… So yes, he is part of our future.

Nason/King? Both different players in completely different roles. Both playing them superbly. Im glad we have both in the team right now. Nason has more potential and will no doubt end up spending time in the midfield in years to come, and as a younger player will out see Kingie at the club. But for now i want both in every week.

If you had to choose, which one would you want to retain on the list?

Naturally Nason.
And Nason was taken with our last draft pick in a weak draft. And if we are to place faith in our recruiters' new-found abilities with late picks as people have said to in the threads against tanking, we are therefore better off with the extra pick from King's delisting (which should hopefully snaffle a player of Nason's quality) than with King staying on the list.

I have to interject in defence of those proposing the positives of tanking for pick 4 dude...you see there is nothing wrong with pinning your faith in our recruiters abilities to spot talent. Thats fantastic, but why isnt it better to allow them the luxury of picking the ****ing obvious, e.g Martin and then picking the unobvious in, as you suggest, the last draft pick in a weak draft.
In the end its all about gathering talent, be it obvious or pure recruiting ability. The proven factor is that with no recruiting ability you can only win with number 1 or 2. ;)

So you’re saying King is the worst on the list and the first that should go? Our last picks have been more miss than hit. Probably luck. Our final pick from last year going back in time… Nason, Hislop, Putt, Collins, Howat, Graham. Apart from Nason and maybe Collins, ill take King any day over the others.

But I thought our recruiting staff was so good that we don't need to tank to get good players, as evidenced by Nason, Collins and the like?
